Turtle,

I'm glad that I could help out someone who has been so helpful to me.

I have learned so much from you and the moderators on this forum: Rainy, Old School, G-Town (he gets my attention when he "pounces" on me), Rick, Patrick, and of course Brett. Sorry if I missed some.

I have also learned so much from the other experienced drivers, who are too many to name.

Enjoy your 25th anniversary.

Rob.

Although I'm not a motorcycle fan, this is certainly cool info to know as I often train new drivers who'd be thrilled with the ability to rent one here and there. Thank you so much for the information!

Thank you so much for being moderator. As soon I posted the thank yous, I realized I had forgotten you.

In addition to all of your great driving advice, you are the source of my running list of things to buy for the truck: Instant Pot, etc.

Susan,

Also a 50' tape measure, based your statement of the obvious regarding the whole "hole counting" thread.

Those tape measures are indeed handy at times.

We did it. I rented a HD Ultra-Glide for our tour around the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone, and man was it worth it!

As an owner of a 02 Kawi Vulcan and a 76 Harley Superglide I'm not a stranger to bikes. But this Ultra was like riding on air! Sooo smooth. I was so impressed that I'll probably be getting one once I come off the road a little more.

Eagle Rider rents through the Jackson Hole Adventure Rentals company. They have bikes, scooters, side by sides, etc. A big selection from the Ultra down to a Sportster. I'd suggest planning ahead at any Eagle Rider location, as the availability of your preferred bike will lesson the closer it comes to your chosen time. I waited until just a few days prior to arrival in WY, and barely got the last of the 4 Ultras they have. Reservations can be easily made online.

Anyhoo, thanks again RobD. You helped make this a trip of a lifetime. I'm incredibly grateful.

Of course I'll take full credit with the wife though, as the bestest most thoughtful husband ever, scoring big points!

Scored big points! Huge! She was completely surprised.

Although im sure you've looked into it, spring for the "America the Beautiful" pass. Well worth the price if you're making more than 2-3 trips to national parks in a year. Have a great time!

Thanks for the tip! Yup I've had the American the Beautiful pass for some time now. It's absolutely worth the price.

The HD dealership here in St Pete, Fl has a rental program. Requires $2000 credit card for insurance coverage. They also do demo rides every weekend. Another dealership in New Port Richey, not sure if they also participate in those programs.

Turtle, how did it feel to just have your wife behind you and not a skateboard? Did you check your mirrors every 7 seconds? Reach for the jake brake and realize it's not there?

Great example of how to be a trucker and ENJOY the trucking lifestyle. That's how to not burn out in trucking.
