Dave, i used to have that problem too. Then I found I could buy a leash for them...

Only took one time leaving a window cracked in a truckstop before a flatbed loaded with hides parked next to me to learn both lessons. No windows open in truck stops. Always keep fly paper on board.

Had a pet fly for a short time. Opened the window and it escaped. We'd only been together for a short time but miss the little one. *sigh*

Mr Curmudgeon: There was a long thread here quite a while back about stuff a driver should carry on the truck. I don't think anybody mentioned fly strips. Great suggestion because there is nothing more annoying than flies buzzing around the cab.

A leash? Why didn't I think of that!

After Buzzie got out a lot of his cousins from NBP in Liberal KS came to visit. Found Buzzie's relatives to be really annoying!
