Me personally, I think it's a big nothing burger. With all the B.S. that's been going around with this, I think they could have come up with something better.

DD.....a profound thought just arrived in my head. Think about this and tell me what you think. How about a voice for truckers that actually "Gets It"?

How about we send Rainy to f'ing DC as a lobbyist for the truckers??? How awesome would that be?

All those in favor say AYE!

I don't know she'd be very thankful to us for sending her to that pit...

I vote yes if she brings her dungeon with her. She can tell them that it is a more comfortable place to have the discussion. They would give truckers cart blanch after that.

Moves that allow you to save on your 14 make good sense.

Not sure why your 30 - if still mandatory, should be anything but OFF DUTY - though I can see how any 30 minute continuous NOT BEHIND THE WHEEL would be a "break", and since fueling "technically" has to be be ON DUTY, stretching out a fuel break to make it into a 30 makes sense by allowing it to be taken as "on duty". OTOH - if you get behind the wheel to move off the fuel island (because I'm sure no one is going to be happy about a rig sitting in the fuel island), you are DRIVING (even if it's for a short distance) and depending on how sensitive your ELD is, might end up putting you back on the drive line.

Looks like they're making the split sleeper even more confusing for some folks - though a 7/3 would allow you to get out of a lazy dock a little sooner. Stopping the 14 for either portion of the split also makes sense, but at what point is this going to be calculated? And you still will need to take a full 10, to get both clocks back correctly. Probably more trouble than it's worth.

I'm not seeing any HUGE FAVORS being done for us here - though ANY TIME you can save off your 14, is a decent thing.

Going to be a lot of ELD companies that are going to need to do some more "fancy programming", so that drivers can still see what they actually have left on their clocks.
