I received my CDL the end of October ( from a local private school) and I am to report to Schneider the end of December. I am trying to decide if I should do refresher payed or just go for it. I am constantly watching backing videos and still studying my pretrip but, two months no wheel time? My nerves are on end of course and want to show my best. Thanks in advance for your feedback.

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

I would not do any refresh class. What are you going to brush up on? You're brand new.

Go through this site and study Daniel B's pretrip.

Pre-trip Inspection:

A pre-trip inspection is a thorough inspection of the truck completed before driving for the first time each day.

Federal and state laws require that drivers inspect their vehicles. Federal and state inspectors also may inspect your vehicles. If they judge a vehicle to be unsafe, they will put it “out of service” until it is repaired.

Trucking companies consider within 60-90 days to be "recent grads" - outside of that, and you might be considered "stale"...

Thanks to all for your feedback. I'm sure I am over thinking this and my nerves are getting to me. I will continue to study the pretrip and try to calm down. Hope for best of roads and Happy Holidays to everyone.
