Welcome KP.
I am unfamiliar with a one-day CDL school. Care to provide more info?
That said for Class A, we overwhelmingly recommend Paid CDL Training Programs. No reputable company or their insurance carrier will consider an entry level driver with anything less than a 3 week training certificate.
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
Electric APUs have started gaining acceptance. These electric APUs use battery packs instead of the diesel engine on traditional APUs as a source of power. The APU's battery pack is charged when the truck is in motion. When the truck is idle, the stored energy in the battery pack is then used to power an air conditioner, heater, and other devices

AmericanCDL.com, 1dayCDL.com It's basically same day school and test. They go over the pre-trip, skills and driving in the morning and you test in the afternoon. Mostly for those who already have the knowledge and know how to drive, of course.

How much experience do you have? How current is it?

Tell your "friend" he should be on Trucking Truth asking these questions.
I agree with PackRat. Was just about to post the same thing...
Without knowing basic information about “your friend”; impossible to effectively guide him or her.
Unless they have current experience greater than a couple of years, the one day approach is unlikely to yield the results they desire. If I were to guess, they allowed their CDL to expire and now want it reinstated. That is why the current experience question is relevant.

That's the kind of statement people make when they already know they're on the wrong track. Our purpose here is to help your "friend" make a proper start as a trucker.
KP, it can be done. However it's neither an intelligent or useful way to get a CDL. No "reputable" trucking company will hire someone as a driver without a certificate indicating 160 hours of training. As challenging and dangerous as this career is, your "friend" needs the proper training. There's no faking it in trucking. I hope your "friend" doesn't learn that truth the hard way.
