3 weeks ago, Our freight was slower than usual for a week. Since that week, it has been business as usual.

Got called off due to lack of freight today. But my terminal is still the busiest in the region.

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

Still furloughed. Haven't been given a call although last Friday it seemed like a lot of people had been probably only for that day.

How did it go with applying for your unemployment? Has it started yet?

I've gotten 1340$ a week for the past 6 weeks every week.

Dang!! Is any of that union money or just state and federal unemployment? Did you have any problems applying?

You guys have any furloughs at your center?

I've been running steady since starting back at Crete three weeks ago. Most days I need to run about 500 miles to stay on schedule. Always pre-planned for the next one in advance, too.

The worst so far has been today. I delivered at 0900 this morning in Phoenix. The next one goes from here back to Dallas. Only issue is it won't be ready until after 0600 tomorrow, so I'm sitting most of the day here at the terminal , and I hate hot weather. It's supposed to be 103 degrees this afternoon.

The Crete COO was on the Dave Nemo Show this morning. He stated our freight hit the slowest point two weeks ago. Our forecast shows it picking up each week for the foreseeable future. Hopefully, everyone will see this happen.

I'm in your corner on this. However the XPO CEO said he sees this going for 10 months. I can't see that happening.

It's from state and federal; I didn't have any problems applying like other states might have. The only issue is the tax situation because it's only witholding 10% federal and 5% state from the state's unemployment and 0% from the extra 600. This is about 8.2% total.

I know that before I would have to gross approxamately 3400$ in two weeks to take home $2400. Right now, it's gross 2600$ take home 2400$ approxamately. That's 400$ a week missing in taxes. I BELIEVE that social security and medicare aren't required for unemployment, and the total gross is a lot lower too, so I don't know what I'm underpaying. But if I assume I need 25% taken out, then that's $224 a week I'm not supposed to have. confused.gif

Basically what I'm saying is anyone else getting this don't spend it all at once cause we're gonna be owing at the end of the year. I'm just going to change my witholding to 0 exemptions when I go back to work.

Good point on SS and Medicare not being included. Pretty sure they are not taxed with UI.

Keep in mind you might not make as much this year as last due to the unemployment so your taxable income might be less.

That said, if you want to be safe, figure out your Tax Rate from your last years taxes for both Federal and State and sock that away or plan for it.

For example, if you made $50K last year and paid $5K in Federal taxes and $2K in State Figure on withholding 10% for Feds and 4% for State. Either let the state do it or do it yourself.

Sounds like you're doing great!

Not yet, we were moving a lot of medical supplies from what I was told. Now that things seem to be leveling off in that field, we may slow down so it could change.
