Hello I just had a interview for ruan transportation out of VA for Publix dedicated home daily account. Is anyone familiar with the company and could give any insight?

Ruan is a heavy player in the dedicated market. They run a great operation. A lot of drivers are unfamiliar with them simply because their trucks are very seldom marked with the Ruan logo. If you drive on the Publix account your truck will carry the Publix logo, but it will be owned or leased by Ruan.

What happened with the Wal-Mart dedicated job you were pursuing?

I work for Ruan on a dedicated Target account.

If you tell me what specifically you would like to know, maybe I could help.

The Publix operation probably operates and pays differently than my Target operation.

What I will say is that my local managers here in Amsterdam NY are great. I’m coming up on my two year anniversary in a couple weeks.

Old School May be correct in the equipment, but I run Ruan tractors pulling either Target or Xtra lease trailers.

IMO health benefits are decent and reasonable. They contribute to 401k after a year. They offered me a 5k sign on bonus and paid it quarterly for a year. That may or may not be available to you. Free pair of work boots every two years.

What else is there?

Let me know.

Tim

Hay, Rick G. ~

My husband almost took a job with Ruan, but he's just a bit far from their nearest terminal , here in Ohio. A friend of ours works there, and has been happy for 7 years and counting.

They pay well, we hear; benefits are decent, hometime is excellent, obviously. Equipment is top notch, and their safety score is decent.

Tim F. from NY (a member here on TT) works for them, I do believe; hopefully he will chime in! (Or you can do a search on here, for him.)

Finally getting out of Budweiser delivery, huh? I could see that getting old after awhile. If they will take you, I'd say go for it.

Best wishes, for sure~! good-luck.gif

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

I see the Ruan Trucks with the Xtra lease trailers all the time here in the Philly area. Have only seen a few sleepers, see day cabs almost everyday

Day Cab:

A tractor which does not have a sleeper berth attached to it. Normally used for local routes where drivers go home every night.
