John,
This site is geared towards new drivers and those looking to get their CDLs.
May want to ask OOIDA that question. They may be able to help you with a question for owners and owner operator.
There are a couple in here that run their own businessNeither multiple trucks. They may chime in with an answer. Nt here also someone who is familiar with the insurance industry as it pertains to big trucks...but his name eludes me right now.
Good luck on your expansion.
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
An owner-operator is a driver who either owns or leases the truck they are driving. A self-employed driver.
OOIDA is an international trade association representing the interests of independent owner-operators and professional drivers on all issues that affect truckers. Just started my own business a little over a year ago. Drove my truck myself. I'm ready to now add another truck and a driver and I'm having problems with making additions to my insurance policy. They are telling me I have to have my policy for min of 2 years before making any additions. I got quotes from other companies and being told the same. Does anyone know of insurance companies I can go with that will allow me to make changes after it's in force? I'm thinking of possibly expanding my business more and adding a few more trucks and drivers.
