Has he asked the recruiter? I can't say with 100% certainty this is how Prime does it but other companies immediately send them out with their trainer (TNT for Prime) and get a load passing through somewhere in TX with enough time to swing by the DMV. The test results are uploaded into a database that may take a couple days for TX to get the results from Missouri (or where ever he takes it). I'm not sure how Covid has affected this as most states require appointments. Currently in Iowa we're booked out about a month and a half.
Somebody with first hand knowledge of this should be in later tonight or early in the morning to better assist you. The recruiter would definitely have the most up to date information on this. If you guys do reach out to them please let us know what they say so we can better assist others with the same question.

Prime Inc has their own CDL training program and it's divided into two phases - PSD and TNT.
The PSD (Prime Student Driver) phase is where you'll get your permit and then go on the road for 10,000 miles with a trainer. When you come back you'll get your CDL license and enter the TNT phase.
The TNT phase is the second phase of training where you'll go on the road with an experienced driver for 30,000 miles of team driving. You'll receive 14¢ per mile ($700 per week guaranteed) during this phase. Once you're finished with TNT training you will be assigned a truck to run solo.
Rob has some good info. Must be spying on Prime.
It is pretty much how Rob described it. After passing his tests your husband will get a TNT trainer. Or he may stick with the same trainer he had for PSD phase. It may take a few days to get hooked up with a new TNT trainer. Hopefully he does not have to wait too long.
After that they will immediately start hauling loads. They will be routed through TX as soon as possible to transfer the license. Unfortunately, that doesn't mean he will be passing through your home town. Any state licensing facility will do. Im not sure if an appointment needs to made in advance in TX. My last student was from VA. He was required to schedule an appointment at a specific location online for his transfer. The student I had before that was from Ohio. He was able to simply show up at any DMV and complete his transfer.
Best of luck to you both. I know it is a difficult adjustment to make at first. Things will settle down before too long and you won't have to deal with so much uncertainty. Hang in there!

Prime Inc has a CDL training program and the first phase is referred to as PSD. You'll get your permit and then 10,000 miles of on the road instruction.
Prime’s PSD begins with you obtaining your CDL permit. Then you’ll go on the road with a certified CDL instructor for no less than 75 hours of one-on-one behind the wheel training. After training, you’ll return to Prime’s corporate headquarters in Springfield, Missouri, for final CDL state testing and your CDL license.

In general, expect him to be gone about 6 weeks before getting home. COVID has things really messed up. I know people who drove home after the exam and waited at home for a trainer. It depends on the situation at the time and weekly changes of DMV. Each state is operating differently. And the holidays can delay trainers

Hello, My husband is about to start prime inc cdl school next Monday. We're very nervous. We're living in Texas right now and he passed permit test. Once he passed actual driving part of CDL test, what happens after that? Is he coming back to Texas pick up his TX CDL right away? Thank you.
