Quick summary - of the TEST EXPERIENCE (I put this in my diary as well)

Today I took my CDL Test- it was suppose to be tomorrow and it was rescheduled to today. Whew that was an unexpected change and I was out on the Washington State coast- glad we had plan to head back early.

Pre trip went fine- just went slow and steady.

Backing - we do straight, offset right and 90 back.

All was well till the 90 back. Set up great started back and REALIZED - I am looking at the wrong cone. 🤦🏼‍♂️🥶

Pulled up to correct. Still out of position. had to pull up again. Out of position again. The 3rd time - I was way out of position and examiner stopped me to pull-up.

Talk about frustrated - I can 90 back. I put it in drive repositioned and said out loud- come on Hughes put it in the hole.

So I did... after I was done and sitting there wondering - where’s the examiner. He jumps in and says “let’s go on the road” that had to be a good sign! 🕺🏻

Did our road test - got back—-

PASS PASS PASS! CDL-A IS MINE!

What I should have done on the 90 when I realized I was looking at the wrong cone was just restart - I panicked and tried to work it out in a way that wasn’t going to happen. Worked out in the end 🎉

What an experience this has been. 5 weeks ago I couldn’t even tell you what a slack-adjuster was to save my life. And had never even sat in a tractor before. Shoot I don’t even think I had ever touched one to be honest.

Thanks everybody for the help- you really have been helpful and kind group of people!

Great news Jared! We never had a doubt. It might've got a little dicey on the 90, but I'm sure the examiner knew what your mistake was too. No sweat, you made it happen. Congratulations!
