Wow, Jam. . . saying prayers for you, man. Spoke to some family in LA (Lousiana, not CA) ... and heard they were getting 'HAILED.' .. SHEESH!

Glad you got shut down. . . sleep well, stay safe. Stay 'tucked in' your spot; but then again, sounds like you are 'surrounded,' which amounts to good right now, methinks.

I'm sorry .. how scary! Ohio was 'Tornado Alley (Xenia anyways...)' before I moved here. . . I have no clue either.

Anne,

I remember the Zenia storms very well. It was my first year driving and I had left Davenport, Ia. which I thought I was going to die. I never saw the sky so black, heavy clouds that you could almost touch. When I went through Zenia the National Guard were there for property protection and a crowd was around a large tree that had a corn stalk right through it. Reminded me of the King Arthur story about the sword in the stone. Very frightening experience and a true disaster for Zenia.

I remember that outbreak, too. Early 1970s. The F5 that took out Xenia was one from what was termed a "super outbreak."
