In this Friday Short Haul, Embark signs MOU with Arizona Department of Transportation, proposed bill would allow more HOS flexibility for livestock and ag haulers, and a U.S. Senate committee hears about the truck parking crisis.
Friday Short Haul - Embark and ADOT, Livestock haulers, and truck parking
I've been reading about this; all interesting; and mostly, the last study. Sure, if THAT'd ever come to pass. It's been a subject/contention for ... HOW many years?!?!? When Tom was starting OTR in '03, they were in talks, haha! Back when Brett was on the road, talks. AND ?!?! LoL.
Comments, anyone else?!?! (Do we even HAVE any Ag haulers/Bull haulers on here?!?!? Wonder if Amish Country qualifies; wherever he's been!)
Also, Mr. Dave W. I JUST got your book delivered via Amazon, TODAY! Other half has to work this weekend, so . . . I've got a 'me' project/pleasure in store~!! (Let me know if you'd like a review...here, there, or anywhere; I'm excited, and will probably start reading tonight if I don't go w/Tom!)
Thanks for all you do, Good Sir.

OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.
A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.
State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.
I can't help but laugh concerning any testimony before Congress in regards to the parking shortage. I don't have a large enough number of fingers and toes that add up to number how many times this has occurred. It's been the ongoing problem for about 100 years?!?! Testimony? Take a ride around a 15 mile circumference of any city after 2300. How many trucks are on the ramps or the shoulder of the Interstate? There's your study!
How much of the $1.9 TRILLION was earmarked for anything related to trucking, let alone parking relief in particular?
March 2020: "You drivers are heroes for bringing the Clorox and toilet paper!"
March 2021: "You need more parking? Really? We need to form a study group in committee." Again.
Shake My Head or Hang My Head To Weep?

Anne, I really like your enthusiasm. 😊 I hope my story is worthy of it. I actually first wrote it about seven years ago, published it, took it down, and re-published it. This time around, it does seem to be better accepted.
I'm on Chapter 37 right now of the sequel, almost across the finish line with it. I've got the third in the series banging around in my brain right now as well ready to go as soon as I finish the sequel. I think writing trucking news for TT has helped a lot because of being exposed to so much real-world truck news. The sequel is my fictional version of the articles I have been writing about the fake-crash insurance scam ring that was terrorizing the area around New Orleans. The third in the series will be about -- what else -- human trafficking across the Mexican border.
And yes please. If you enjoy the story I would appreciate any kind of good word you can put out about it. So far, it has gotten favorable reviews from a wide range of readers, with the only negative review saying it would have been five stars except for the violence. I'll take that as a favorable review. 😊
According to B. Moeller last Sunday 3/21, there is to be NO parking on ramps in Nebraska, even if they aren't posted! If ticketed, it would be $10 + court costs and he didn't know what those costs are.

All the MORE exciting; thanks for the history & updates~!! I'm on your Amazon follow list as well, but I SURE DO hope for an update here, also; when the 'violent' sequel comes out! (What ISN'T plagued somewhat, with violence, these days?! In Ohio, teens (KIDS!) ...stealing cars.. sheesh!)
I'll try to devour it gently, but I'm usually a 'one weekend' reader type of a person. Being gifted with a two year scholarship in Journalism; should have continued myself. I'm already enjoying your writing style in my 'browsings,' and have enjoyed you here, as well. You're really great at your craft; glad you came back TO it, good sir!! TT will be on the 'Top 3' list of reviews, for sure!!!! :)

Miss Laura;
OUCH~~~!!!! Is that the run you posted about recently, on the ramp with nowhere to go ?!?!? Dang . . . I'm so sorry. At least your company 'gets it,' right?!?!?
Well, if the things (objectives) in Dave's article come into play, it'd be YOU that'd benefit, substantially . . . correct?
Be safe, y'all.

No, that was 3-4 weeks ago when I had problems with the coolant and had added my last two gallons and idled the truck during the night. When I took off it didn't have enough coolant and shut the truck down. I was going over Snoqualmie Pass to Renton WA with a 5100 lb load. Needed a radiator when I got back to Idaho.
This ramp issue was last Sunday. I took a copy of it and sent it to the office safety lady and I haven't heard from her. So she may be out of the office for training or something. I'll be back after I unload in eastern Idaho on Monday. I'll run in to the office on Tuesday with all my trip envelopes and the office copy.

Dave W.,
Good morning sir. Just catching up on the posts here on TT and was reading Anne A's replies to you and didn't realize that you have a book out. Can you tell me the title so I can go to Amazon and order a copy? Thank you so much.

Sure, it's "Crimson Highway: A Hugh Mann Novel." Thanks. And I hope you enjoy it.
