I-80 WB Between Hazel Crest, IL And Joliet

I understand traffic was at a complete standstill on I-80 WB today in Illinois. I was not caught in it, but some people I know told me they sat in their vehicle for 4 hours before finally getting to an exit and taking surface streets the rest of the way they had to go. Does anyone know anything about what may have happened?

I didn't hear of anything special happening yesterday, but with the heavy construction going on in that stretch it is not usual for even a minor accident to cause a large backup.

Not sure about yesterday but I heard today a Saia double hit a wall in the construction jersey wall area where it splits and caught fire carrying fireworks.

You beat me to it. They had all 4 lanes Northbound shutdown and 2 lanes on the southbound side shut down for hours. Was a real mess.
