I’m sure it’s great until it fails and then you’re left with no mirrors. What do you say when you hit something at that point?

They look nice but I have a hard time trusting technology like that glass has worked for over 100 years. Anything that relies on technology can and will crash, freeze or just break.
I agree if it fails what to do? There is no "insta mirror button"
You’d have to make your way to the shoulder or pull off at an exit and wait for someone to come fix it.
Haven't seen a tech function that won't fail. Overhead view could be a useful function at times.
Anything they can do to remove drivers from the equation, the tech companies and government will do. Why?
Because we are the Achilles heel to the government, if enough drivers unified, or formed affinity groups and acted upon that, it would bring the country to catastrophic system failure in a matter of days.

Pipe dream on the unification and really not what you want anyway. Research Motor Carrier Act 1980. Then look into why it was needed.
They honestly think they can pull the wool over our eyes with the self driving trucks. Do u really think one can respond to a four wheeler cutting across four lanes and then slamming on the brakes to brake check or they almost miss their exit?
I got this new truck in August and I was passing several vehicles, when I turned on my right signal to come back. The truck has a flashing red light and a loud buzzer! The first time the d@mn thing went off, I about had an accident! When talking to friends on the phone even they can hear it! We are putting far too much technology on these trucks!

If you’re lucky enough to be in the right lane when it would happen. Imagine driving through Chicago in the middle lane and have your mirrors go out. A nightmare.
