Hello fellas I'm looking to run my own home heating truck delivery services I've been in the field 15yrs, both on truck and in home service & repair. I'm 44 and looking to do delivery services through the winter months, and I thought of home heating delivery, I'm asking what is the process of putting a oil truck on the road... As far as registration permits etc what do I need to do to get this type of business truck ready for business thanks...
Angel L., You'd need a CDL if your GVW is over 26,000 lbs., if you don't have one already.
We can help you here, with THAT part, however! :)
Let us know.
In the meantime, you could look into OOIDA's Oil Truck subsection.
Best to ya!

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
OOIDA is an international trade association representing the interests of independent owner-operators and professional drivers on all issues that affect truckers. The over 150,000 members of OOIDA are men and women in all 50 states and Canada who collectively own and/or operate more than 240,000 individual heavy-duty trucks and small truck fleets.
The mission of OOIDA is to serve owner-operators, small fleets and professional truckers; to work for a business climate where truckers are treated equally and fairly; to promote highway safety and responsibility among all highway users; and to promote a better business climate and efficiency for all truck operators.
I know that heating oil and propane delivery companies up here in the frozen tundra are needing drivers big time. Would it be better to be a company driver without all the hassle of getting set up on your own? Just a thought.

Especially to learn the business first. Maybe a company would help to get his Hazmat that he will need also.

Explosive, flammable, poisonous or otherwise potentially dangerous cargo. Large amounts of especially hazardous cargo are required to be placarded under HAZMAT regulations
I completely agree. Learn on someone else’s dime.
