Hello I'm curious on what will happen to me, I'm a new driver and I accidentally drove through a ez pass express lane as a company driver. Anyone know what will happen because of this?

Do you have the EZ Pass recorder on your dash or windshield area? If so, it's automatically recorded. If not, cameras take a high speed photo of the license plate, and/or the side of the vehicle, where the DOT information decals are for each company. A bill is sent to the registered owner.

DOT:

Department Of Transportation

A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.

State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.

You will go before a court of law. If found guilty, the usual punishment is being hung, then drawn and quartered just as an example to others.

Welcome to Trucking Truth! Actually that first statement was not the truth.

Nothing will happen. If anybody even asks you about it you just tell them it was a rookie mistake and a total accident. Honestly I don't ever think you will hear another word about it. Your conscience is the only voice troubling you, or maybe it is some phobia that you are going to be fired for the slightest infraction. It's all newbie nerves. Get over it and keep on trucking brother. You are just fine!

Old school jokes

But soon it'll probably be reality.

I went back to Brooklyn, NY a few months ago. I don't have an ez pass in my car because I don't really hit any toll roads. I'm approaching the triboro/RFK bridge with cash in hand and to my surprise, no toll collectors. Guess I'm paying by mail.

I get the invoice in the mail and forget to pay it since all of my bills are on autopay. I get another invoice a month later with 400 dollars in fees. I call them up to explain that I simply forgot to pay it, can I just pay the tolls by phone and be forgiven on the fees. They said they can't do that, I have to pay the whole thing. 32 dollars in tolls and 400 dollars in fees. Told her I'm not paying that and she said they would tow my vehicle. Told her good luck with that since I'm not a resident of NYC and I have no intentions of returning.

I didn't pay it and I'm not going to pay it. I'll gladly pay the 32 dollars, though.

They're going to dispatch the black helicopters and the black tow trucks from Albany to find you Banks!

I’ve heard that states can suspend your license no matter what state it’s from, due to unpaid fines. That’s what I would worry about

For example, Illinois can do this to drivers from Wisconsin who fail to pay their exorbitant fees

I'm already acting like Henry Hill in Goodfellas. My family and friends refuse to call me from a payphone smh

New York doesn't do that. I've become very familiar with their vehicle laws in the time I lived there. They suspend your license for moving violations. Parking tickets, camera tickets and tolls can lead to you getting towed by third party marshals and subject to their ridiculous tow/storage fees, but it has no bearing on my license.
