I have been driving delivery jobs for awhile now Sherwin Williams or autozone I've been at autozone for awhile now, I like my job but would like more money but don't want OTR as I have two cats and I like my gym time. Some paper or whatever when you take the dot test or something like that asks if you've used any drugs in like the past 2 years now I would have to lie in order to pass this paper questionnaire here's the problem with that I'm a born again Christian and every time I lie God doesn't seem to let me get away with it so I just try my best not to lie to avoid catastrophe. An example is the last time I took a test like this they asked when the last time I was in the psych ward was I was like 2 years and they were like wrong you lied it's been 1 year and 11 months. And I'm like thinking to myself I don't remember exactly but it didn't matter they already failed me on that lol. 😕 so do I just have to wait 1 and a half years before I can even consider this? It was really a slip up with the weed I have been mostly sober the last 5 years since finding God.. just kinda socks having to wait such a long time when I would easily pass a drug test but I can't pass the lie detector test.

There's a school somewhat nearby that is offering cdl training at 15 dollars an hour the pay isn't great and it's farther away from my current job but I would like to learn how to drive a bigger truck.

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

OTR:

Over The Road

OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.

DOT:

Department Of Transportation

A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.

State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.

Joshua, can you please clarify your last sentence? Do you mean there is a “company” offering training along with $15 per hour for your work?

Schools don’t pay students. They charge them tuition.

Do you know if Rayl will drug test you before you start?

Normally, I would say to take the job, but it might be too early for you to risk a positive drug screen.

If you haven't done anything in the past 5 months, your urine test will probably test clear.

However, if they do a hair follicle test, and they can get hair from anywhere on your body, and you test positive, you are done before you even get started. Marijuana will test positive in your hair for upwards of one year after using it. It just depends on how much and how long you used it as well as how much body fat you have.

I wouldn't chance it for another 6+ months and stay clean during that time. I have heard of JRayl, but have no idea what their testing requirements are. In this poor economy in the trucking world, if they didn't do hair follicle testing before, they may now, just to weed out the users.

Stay clean for a bit more.

The time limit for hair is 90 days. Material older than that has deteriorated & not usable for this. I'm "butting in" here to keep the panic down to a reasonable level. I asked a lab tech taking my sample, she told me this.

Hello Errol - it's really great to have you back in here!

There's no panic in here. The problem we have had is people repeatedly coming to our forum and telling us they've been clean for six months, and still failed a hair test. I remember one who claimed being clean for nine months!

These folks seem sincere. We don't know if they're credible or not, but some of them simply couldn't believe what happened to them. There's a lot more to this issue than just knowing the test is designed to go back 90 days. Different people metabolize THC differently.

For some heavier body types the test may inadvertently pick something up that is further back than 90 days. I've even heard there are some studies indicating certain ethnicities maintain THC levels in their hair for longer periods.

We've seen so many sad stories in here where people are asking us for help after failing a hair test. It's really disturbing. We've pretty much adopted the idea that it's best to make really sure you can pass a hair test. So far, we've not heard bad news from anyone who took the extra prudent step of being drug free for one year.

It's solid advice for people who have been heavy users or may fit into one of these unusual situations we've heard so much about.

Your test will be clean if it's been 5 months. Whether you are truthful or not is up to you. Everyone sins. We're all human. There are a lot worse sins out there then fibbing on a questionare. You will be forgiven.

You are saying a hair follicle test will be clear by 5 months after use? Will you guarantee that?
