Had to get my windshield replaced for the 4th time yesterday, making 5 windshields for this young truck.

Going south on I35 in Des Moines when I took a tremendous blow to the windshield. Sounded like a small bomb going off. My dog had a heart attack and died. I don’t have a dog, but if I did he would have had a heart attack and died.

I thought someone had thrown an object like a baseball at me, but the company reviewed the camera video and said a wrench had come off a pickup in front of me and hit the windshield. They said I could look at the video next time at the yard and see what happened.

Ouch, lucky for you BK it was on the passenger side, not your side !! Knew a couple years ago, they were headed south on I-15 back home on Cajon Pass.... Someone on an overpass, threw a brink onto the freeway. It went right thru their windshield and caused em to get minor injuries because of it.....

Now go buy you a lotto ticket BK, might be your luckier day still ! lol

Yeah, Stevo, I am sort of lucky. There was a lot of glass shard spray from that hit and most of it stayed to my right. If it had hit on my side I would have gotten it right in the face.

Many years ago in the area where I lived, two kids threw a bowling ball off an overpass and it hit the windshield of a car going past. It went right thru the windshield and hit the woman driver square in the chest. It killed her. If I remember correctly, she had two children at home. They eventually caught the teenagers who launched the bowling ball and they went to prison. That was one of the first things that came to my mind when I got hit.

As a public service, please provide your daily route information in the Trucking Truth General Discussions forum every day. With that kind of bad luck, I want to make sure to stay well away from the roads you travel. I like my windshield to stay unbroken for as long as possible. good-luck-2.gif rofl-1.gif

Haha. The shop should have me carry a couple of replacement windshields and teach me how to replace a windshield myself.

One benefit is that the installer always cleans the inside every time, so I seldom have to do it myself.

For anyone curious about the cost: $652.70. It took these guys about 45 minutes, start to finish.

That had to make you jump, just a rock hitting my windshield gets me.

In 6 years I've had a couple rocks hit the windshield only one deep enough for them to replace it.

Since moving to AZ my sister has gone through like 3 or 4 windshield in 7 years. All them rocks keep getting her

Our safety department got the object from the forward facing camera. It was a combination wrench as caught in the photo.
