Here are some links for your friend to look at. When he's done looking at them, go to the top left of the page where the three lines are, open up and there are more links for him to go through. Plus there is the Training Diaries forum and podcasts. Plenty of things to keep him busy for awhile.

Thank you much, Laura. If I were to get back into employment again myself, I might consider some telework job with a mega like accountant, bookkeeper, data entry, logistics or load planning. Medical conditions indicate no pro driving for me. I'm now desk job material. It will be fun mentoring my younger man into CDL work though. A carrier desk worker who is good can still be a boon to truck drivers. Heck, if my younger man buddy lands a CDL position with a big carrier, he might even be a connection for non-driving employment for me. Who knows? I do have an AS degree in computer information science and some college credits in accounting.

Hello John.
It’s a very nice thing you are doing for your friend. I hope he follows your advice and gets on here himself. There is a lot we can do to guide him along getting started and beyond.
What qualities does he have that would make him a good truck driver? How is his driving record? A clean driving record is always important but especially now when hiring is slower. The new ones who get the most help and are the most successful are the ones who give us the most background information.
One more resurrection of Todd. I guess he will never give up.

How do you know it’s fake?

The 3 names the overall way it is typed. Way too much personal information, worked on bug truck in the army, "will consider" being a trucker but mentions 10 things he'd rather do.
And Motors, are electric............ Engines, are combustion.........I ain't never seen a diesel motor hahaha

I am not here because I'm planning on doing any CDL driving work myself. I am here to help a good friend as his older mentor. I have known this 35-year-old American man in central Iowa for a year now. He has experience in construction work but an on-the-job falling injury damaging his foot ruined that career for him. He now works at a mobile telephone store but does not even clear $2,000/mo. net as far as I know. He has child support to pay. It's hardly a decent living income.
He has told me he dreams of doing CDL driving work. Freight trucks, maybe cement mixers or dump trucks and maybe even school buses. I don't know yet. I texted him a link to this site telling him that Trucking Truth would be his "One Stop Truck Driving Career Headquarters". I figure I can learn some stuff here too and help coach him. I repaired heavy diesel motor vehicles in the Army as an MOS. I've had some stick time on tractor trailers myself in the military.
