Drivers Lounge

Brett,ur always looking for new ideas I seen so I thought I'd shoot this one out to ya.how bout a spot on the forum called drivers lounge where we can sit and chat bout whatever comes to mind,post vids of stuff we've seen or even post some jokes we may have heard.

Ya know, I was actually going to build an app for that kind of thing called "Trucker's World" and it would have features like:

1) Sharing photos and videos 2) Sharing your location through GPS (you wouldn't have to enter it manually. I can detect it) 3) Sharing your "status" like on Facebook or Twitter - basically, say anything you like 4) Message back and forth with other drivers 5) "Follow" other drivers where you could see the location of each other on a map 6) Share your destination so I can determine who you're going to cross paths with and alert you

...and things like that.

I can make that a separate app or I could build that type of thing into this forum - either way. Do you think it would be better to have that kind of thing right here in the forum, or would you rather see a separate app for it?

Any and all opinions are welcome! What do you guys and gals think? I know a lot of people come here for several months before they actually begin their driving careers and people would like to keep up with the friends they've made once they go out on the road. It's also a lot of fun seeing where everyone is and where they're going. It's all easy enough to build on my end so whatever you guys and gals would like just let me know.

Putting it on the site itself would be an upside BC then ya wouldn't have to leave the site per say ur in general category and want to say post a story or video of something then ya can click and go with a tablet or phone.versus to the app ya would have to close out the browser then click the app,and if ya wanted to recheck on posts ya would have to again do the above.

It does make sense. After I thought about it a bit I think I agree with ya - it would be better to just incorporate that sort of thing right into the forum itself.

I'm gonna ponder this a bit but I really like the idea. I hadn't really considered working that into the forum so I'm going to think over how I'd like to do that and see what I can come up with. I think it should be pretty easy to do.

That's a awesome idea crazy. And having it embedded into TT makes it easily accessible. And Brett, I know you would make a amazing lounge!

That sounds great, especially the part where you would know if someone on here is in the area where you are at. That would be really cool!

Yeah, I've been thinking this over and I really like the idea of incorporating it right into the forum also. I guess I had been focusing on building a separate app for it because when you think mobile, you think apps. But I know a ton of people are already signed up here and using this forum with their phones and tablets so why bother with a separate app? I'll just incorporate that stuff right here.

I'm going to ponder a strategy over the next few days about how I'd like to implement this and next week you'll start seeing new features popping up. I'll make announcements and I implement them.

What became of this one, Brett? I’m enjoying the time in the archives for the past couple days.

I like the idea of an app... something quickly and easily accessed without logging into TT.

I used to just click on a link in email and go right to TT and respond. I now need to go to TT, go to Login/register, then into the forums, general discussions, etc..

I assume this is a security thing and adapted to it.

For my recent meetup with Jamie I posted my phone number (mix of words and numbers to foil "screen scrapers") to facilitate contact.

With an app we could have done everything there... including me monitoring his progress as he traveled from his "10" to his delivery to his "34" where I met him.

Just my thoughts and preferences!
