What app do you use to upload photos for storage that can also be used to post photos here on TT by links?

I downloaded Photobucket. Worked great on this site. Absolutely SUCKED THE LIFE out of my battery. May have missed a setting somewhere.

Photobucket is the easiest. Works well with (Android, at least) smart phones.

Open the image in Dropbox, right click on the image and choose "copy image address" or "copy image url" depending on the browser you're using. Click on the "Photo" button on our site when you're making your post and paste that into the box. I just tested it. It works.

You can also email any photo to photos@photos.truckingtruth.com from the email address you signed up with and it will put it straight into your gallery.

These online photo sharing sites are awful. Even I've had to fiddle around with em to get anything to work. The problem is they really don't want you to share your photos on another website. They want you to bring more people to their website to view the photos so they can recruit more visitors and make money from their ads. And I can understand that. But people should be given the option of sharing anyway they like.

I guess I'm gonna have to put a photo upload button in here.

Will doing that keep the images from "expiring" (sorry, not a computer guy haha)? I noticed I had some images up here and they disappeared. For some reason, photobucket didn't keep all my old images.

They'll stay in your gallery HERE - until Brett decides to dump them.

I used to use a public gallery on Apples MobileMe service (that I PAID FOR). When they migrated to iCloud - that was a service they didn't migrate (we wanted to KILL COOK for that).

I had a TON of step by step, very detailed HOW-TO's on a couple of motorcycle, audio recording and firearms forums that the images just went POOF! And they were way past "allowable edit" dates, to point the links somewhere else.

REALLY TWISTED MY NIPPLES.

Sometimes - photos on some of these services don't "expire", but they get archived and the URL for them changes. If we could upload images DIRECTLY HERE - Bretts storage and bandwidth charges would SKYROCKET. It's good that he just lets us link them in from elsewhere - since the site here is FREE for us members.

I just checked - and it seems only Microsoft OneDrive will share images directly from Cloud Storage using the PHOTO link on this site. Google Drive - NO GO. Apple iCloud - NO GO. I don't use dropbox.

So there's a few ways to share photo's - FACEBOOK is probably the easiest.

Yeah that works with the other services too. In fact, that's about the only thing that works with any of the services it seems.

We never expire images. If they get expired it's the photo sharing services that are doing that.

I've got it on my list to add an upload feature. Gonna have to since these photo sharing services aren't cooperating. Who woulda thought it would be so much trouble to share a photo from a photo sharing service, right? That's what they do! Well, that's what they say they do.

Don't know what your hosting storage and bandwidth costs are - but expect them to SKYROCKET if you start storing and serving massive amounts of images. Also - site performance in general is going to do down, if the images all live on your server too.

G-Town passed you my contact info - give me a shout.
