Congratulations! Maybe someday we'll run into each other in Denver.

Oh, and at least you were aware you were covered in tarp sludge lol. More than once I've walked into a restroom and suddenly realized my face was covered in it. Embarrassing if you've been walking around the store first!

Cramping in the feet can often be a sign of slight dehydration. Try upping your water intake.

Congratulations! Really proud of you for being brave enough to flatbed. My heart would never be in flatbedding. . Heck, I don't even wanna deal with a reefer , although they used to humm me to sleep.

Thanks, Sue! I often get asked why flatbed and I guess I just really like the satisfaction of getting that kind of work done. Winter will be miserable but even that seems like a challenge I'll be up for. As for the reefer hum, it was so loud my first few nights with my trainer. The other night, I parked in a row of nothing but flatbeds and tankers. Too quiet! I could barely get to sleep!

Congrats!!!!! Stay Safe and Keep on keepin' on smile.gif

I'm going to keep on trying, Boss! That you can bet on :)

Would love to catch up in good old CO sometime, Bud! Hopefully, I'm not horribly grumpy after fighting traffic on 25! As for the tarp sludge, I did that once - walked in and walked around before realizing that I had black smeared from my left collar bone to the top of my left ear. Was down in Gypsum and didn't get why people couldn't look me in the eye! I try to remember to check now ;)

Thanks for the tip, Trucktographer! My bladder won't like this remedy but I'll give it a try :)

Well done young lady. As the tv commercial used to say, "I like the sprite in you". That tenacity and never give up attitude will carry you a long long way. Keep up the good work! !!

Ha Ha.. congrats on getting your own truck... And that pass you missed the gear on was Homestake. I am still trying to figure out how I can go from Helena to Dillon and cross the Great Divide twice and Denver is still on the other side of the mountains. That one has a lot of oh **** moments on it for new drivers. You will see many trucks flying down that pass but the ticket is not worth it. The other hill that catches people off guard was the next one you started up just past Cardwell. When you are heading west that is. Top the hill, nice easy slope then ooops it is 6% for the next 3 miles. Get to see a lot of brake lights on that hill.

TWIC:

Transportation Worker Identification Credential

Truck drivers who regularly pick up from or deliver to the shipping ports will often be required to carry a TWIC card.

Your TWIC is a tamper-resistant biometric card which acts as both your identification in secure areas, as well as an indicator of you having passed the necessary security clearance. TWIC cards are valid for five years. The issuance of TWIC cards is overseen by the Transportation Security Administration and the Department of Homeland Security.

That's exactly what I was going to say. I've had that happen a number of times over the years and that's exactly what it was - dehydration.
