I'm still a pretty new driver, and so far I have been running more southern but now I am on a load going up to Mehoopany, Pa. I've not dealt with the driving around the mountains and steep grades so much yet. Just curious as what to expect.

Hey Jared... Only 5 months in myself. Went that way a couple days ago. The grades aren't so bad. Just use your engine brake and don't ride the brake pedal. If you are not familiar with 3-5 braking it is good to know. In all honesty it's the 4 wheelers that are the biggest danger on that road. I sat through backups for 2 wrecks due to these eejits zig zagging through traffic.

You will have a few mountains but I don't remember or believe that VA has any grades. PA has mountain grades closer to around exit 100. Not any south of that. Barring any snow or fog its not really anything to them.

81 is a pretty decent stretch of road. 68 is one of the more challenging as far as the major interstates. Some of the state roads will keep you on your toes, that's for sure. Just take your time and let the truck do all the work.

Interstate:

Commercial trade, business, movement of goods or money, or transportation from one state to another, regulated by the Federal Department Of Transportation (DOT).

No hills in virginia? LOL Just came through 81,nothing to it,mostly straight, and plenty of warnings, around curves. Try the grape vine...with its beautiful landscape of mud.

Construction on I-81 through PA, north of exit 100, cattle-chute, 1 lane in each direction for about 5 miles.

Driving in the mountains after 22 years still scares the crap out of me. It's mainly psychological.
