This has come up before. I84 Oregon east of Pendleton approx mile marker 216-226.

I'm pretty sure I'm right.

The googling I did said Cabbage Hill. So it should be marked with highway sign.

I would not consider cabbage bad. Its the drivers going to fast or not setting up for the hill, that's dangers. There are signs be for the hill, with truck weights and suggested speed. Just set up for your descent properly, use your jakes. Buy your self the "I servived cabbage hill" shirt from the truck stop at the bitten of the hill. I have run it 3 times this week. When are you going to get there? Storm moving in tonight and tomorrow.

The blue mountains can be treacherous from Baker City all the way to Pendleton if it's winter weather.

Scott M,

You are correct.

CWC,

There are if I remember correctly, 3 signs you will pass alerting you to the down grade and depending on your weight, what speed is recommended for your decent. The last one just either before or after the rest area at the top.

Oh, and if you have some time on the load the casino at the bottom of cabbage (Pendleton, OR wild horse casino) has a movie theatre. Watched the new Star Wars with the wife there. Nice casino if you like to gamble as well.

Thanks again everyone, after some issues with the trailer and many hours at a Love's we finally made it to Cabbage hill and by that time I was ready to get it over with. My new (young) codriver said he felt a little let down from the passenger seat. And I think my rectum could have doubled as a pencil sharpner for the first hour before we got to the hill till after we found the summit. I don't think it was as bad as it has been made out online but had it been snow and ice covered like some of the stuff we passed in Wyoming it could have been a very different ride.

I just drove Cabbage this morning for the first time, and Donner last week, and in my opinion both are overrated. I've had more butterflies from some of the Eastern mountain ranges.

However I will say that maybe they were more difficult back in the days before our rather awesome, and effective, engine retarders. I did both Donner and Cabbage in the dark for my first time and they were each a cake walk.
