Ok so it wasn't the trailer brakes. Instead I have a bad brake canister on the tractor.

Oh Teddy...

That sucks to hear about Teddy.

If you're in Glens Falls still, welcome to the area! I'm only about 15 mins away from you.

Hope they get ya fixed up soon.

Well we are all taken care of! I'm back at the same truck stop as last night (who is also who fixed my brakes) weighing out this heavy load. 2 weighs later and I think we are good!

Right?? Teddy 2.0 I'm thinking.

It was a quick and easy fix. It was just a mess trying to get out from under the trailer! The service guy ended up clamping off the secondary line so I could drag the tractor out from underneath. But he got it fixed fast and on site at the shipper so it was pretty painless!

The wind up here is nuts today! I definitely wouldn't attempt this drive with an empty trailer. Luckily I'm pretty heavy and it's a low center of gravity load so I think I'm alright.

I have a lot of time on this trip so I'm going to stop a little early tonight and get a shower and a good meal. And hopefully the wind will be better tomorrow!

Shipper:

The customer who is shipping the freight. This is where the driver will pick up a load and then deliver it to the receiver or consignee.

Quick update as I'm too exhausted to do anymore.

We did our first trip across Chicago this morning at 3 am. It wasn't too horrible but I don't want to do it during the day EVER!

We made it to MN and are shut down at a Walmart with truck parking about 20 miles from the reciever. Gotta deliver at 3 am. I have less than 10 hours on my 70 but I'm not sure how many hours I will get back tomorrow.

On a very sad note, we passed an semi accident on 294 near Chicago. Looking at Facebook a few minutes ago it turns out that a UPS driver was headed south on 294, hit the median wall and flipped into the northbound lanes. The driver was killed in the accident. So send up some prayers for his family Trucking Truthers!

If you have a Qualcomm , on the Hours Of Service page, the Status tab (the main one), look on the right side. You'll see "Hours to be gained". Those pop up at midnight tonight.

Qualcomm:

Omnitracs (a.k.a. Qualcomm) is a satellite-based messaging system with built-in GPS capabilities built by Qualcomm. It has a small computer screen and keyboard and is tied into the truck’s computer. It allows trucking companies to track where the driver is at, monitor the truck, and send and receive messages with the driver – similar to email.

HOS:

Hours Of Service

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.

Remember that it's midnight of your LOG BOOK TIME (usually home terminal), I stumble on this when I leave home and head east.

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

Well I delivered on time. It was kind of a messed up place to dock BUT I nailed it!! I've actually started to impress myself with my backing. Definitely don't want to get overconfident though!

Got a new load out of Minnesota to Connecticut. Back east again. But I only get 5 hours and 54 mins back at midnight. The load picks up at 4 am. As of right now I'm at 64:37 on my 70. And the load has to deliver on the 14th by 10pm. I don't think I'm going to have enough hours to do this! And I don't have any satellite signal... Hmmmm. I guess I will pick up the load and run as far as I can tomorrow and see what dispatch wants to do.

Really enjoying this ChickieMonster. Thanks for sharing. Could you touch a little on how your husband is doing riding along with you? Is he bored? What does he do during the day? What's it like on the road with your spouse?
