If you use trip planner on Trucker Path app to get an idea of where you might take your ten hour break, zoom the view to see how you can enter to position yourself for backing.

Sometimes this lets you avoid the wanderers.

My truck stop parking tip.... drive nights and shut down before 1300. Always space hahaha

Also.. stay away from loves and pilot. Petro TA and flying j are much bigger. I use trucker path app to find the place with biggest lot hahha

Rainy, better is to check the non-chain stops. There's places often have room even later in the day. I look at the reviews, first. I know there are clowns that post garbage there, but weed those out and you'll get the general impression of a mom & pop place. Names of some favorites: Dukes in Texas, Grady's in Georgia, Queen City in Mississippi.

BTW, I prefer to knock off in the early afternoon myself.

Yeah, driving through the night and quitting mid day is a great strategy. I also keep notes on various small truck parking areas. There is a very small truck stop in Port Jervis, NY that only has 4 parking spots, yet there never has been a time that I have been there when I couldn't park and stay for ten hours. People ignore those small places, which oftwn makes them little places of refuge.

My Prime TNT trainer said I'll be drivin he night shifts, so I'm looking forward to that.

Are there any apps that show the non-chain rest stops? Maybe we could have a list here somewhere.

TNT:

Trainer-N-Trainee

Prime Inc has their own CDL training program and it's divided into two phases - PSD and TNT.

The PSD (Prime Student Driver) phase is where you'll get your permit and then go on the road for 10,000 miles with a trainer. When you come back you'll get your CDL license and enter the TNT phase.

The TNT phase is the second phase of training where you'll go on the road with an experienced driver for 30,000 miles of team driving. You'll receive 14¢ per mile ($700 per week guaranteed) during this phase. Once you're finished with TNT training you will be assigned a truck to run solo.

There may be others, but I got Trucker Path and stopped looking. Shows Walmarts (+ reviews if they're truck friendly), scales and rest areas. Drivers can update empty or full.
