My FM and I have a great rapport. I have 2800 miles coming to me on this pay and can still get another load for mon/tues ;)

However I played beat the 70 hr clock.for the past couple days. Yesterday I got to a 90 with 50 min left on my 70 until midnight. I got there at 10 am for a 1700 appt. Did 8 in sleeper and rolled out at 1830 with my 50 min. Headed to a truck stop with blue beacon next door so I could wash out in the morning for my next load. I was really exhausted this week from the high pressure of beat thw clock. I don't like it hahha.

I got down to 8 min and pulled off road to off duty another few miles to the Flying J where I had to pay for parking. Was so tired I didn't even shower.. just ate and slept.

My next load had a pick up of 0900 to 2359 with a 0900 delivery.... only a couple hundred miles.. after all that running I was going to enjoy taking my time a bit.

I woke up at 0600 and saw dispatch called and messaged on QC... was so tired I didn't hear it. Checked my load and the date was 0900 to midnight for yesterday.. not today... with a delivery of 0900 for today :(

I explained to dispatch what happened.... and they were nice about it... but it counts as a service failure. .. and I've tried hard not to have any. A couple days ago my FM told me I was one of the few rookies he knew would be there really early and commended me for being early even with my blowout. He's off this weekend and someone else I don't know is covering.

I picked it up by 0730 and delivered it by 1340...but still.. thought I was going to have a relaxing day and woke to aggravation. :(

Then I got to my next load 4 hours early. Rant over

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

Sounds like there isn't any such thing as a perfect week out there, but I'd say all in all you had a d*mn good week!

What exactly is a service failure, and what are the consequences?

So sorry Rainy. I totally understand being exhausted. I ran my 70 down to about 5 hrs a couple days ago. I mean, my goal was to max out my hours this week, but it's alot easier said than done. That's a ton of work to do considering we actually put in alot more than 70 hrs if you include trip planning, talking to shippers and receivers and dispatch, backing, etc.

Nobody wants a service failure, but I seriously doubt this will hurt you at all as long as it doesn't keep happening.

Sorry, I'm not very experienced or anything, but just my two cents.

Shipper:

The customer who is shipping the freight. This is where the driver will pick up a load and then deliver it to the receiver or consignee.

This is your first one in how long?? I wouldn't worry about it too much. I realize it's frustrating but we all make bonehead moves like this once in awhile.

I'm always playing beat the clock so I know how exhausting it is to have to figure out exactly how long you can drive and if you are going to make it anywhere on time.

I wouldn't worry about it too much it's definitely frustrating and you will probably beat yourself up about it for awhile but it'll all be ok. I dare say we've all messed up like that a time or 2. There have been a few times where I forgot to comensate for time zone changes and one time I almost delivered 24 hrs late because I didn't know what day it was lol

It's my first one in 4 months. It was an error on my FM for giving it to me to b3gin with l. I messaged him in the morning asking for a pre plan so I could plan on parking arrangements. He obviously didn't look at my 70. I obviously didn't look at the date. Night dispatch didn't look at my 79 either cause they expected my hours back at 2130 and figured I would get to 01 before midnight.

Got ro rhe customer and after I apologized the guy said "no big deal that traiker was filled Wed. .. been sitting here ever since."

Got to thw next customer and of course the new trailer is acting up. Dosent want to slide. Had to scale it 3 times. ABS light just came on before I parked but I need food and a shower. You can all probably smell me from there lol

Not making it to customers on time is considered a customer service failure. We get bonuses for on time delivery... and so does our FM. Get too many failures....I'm guessing you won't be working very long.

When your regular FM gets back explain what happened. He might be able to get the service failure removed. I'm not sure how it works where you are. As for the smell, I thought it was me so I showered extra today.

I misread an appointment time somewhat early in my solo career and got a service failure. Missed my phonecall too.

I had spent so much time trying to figure out my 70 hours and if I could get to the 90 on what I would be getting back that I just glazed over the 0500 pickup (thought is was 1700). It was one of those screwy trips where you can drive five hours and then have to wait till midnight to get more hours back.

Preloaded trailer at the pickup so it had no effect on the load at all, still made the 90 fine and the 01 didn't care. Still got the service failure, though. I guess I probably got number two with this pickup trailer fiasco that I posted about the other day.

We're all human and make mistakes. Might delay you getting a gold ring but a rare mistake is to be expected.
