The guy taking the video was smarter. Calling a tow truck would be cheaper than replacing the window. And he'll still have a job tomorrow.
There is a better way... Have two (2) keys. one mentor introduced me to a method. Leave one key in the ignition and keep one key permanently on your belt.
Or tape one down under the hood. Or find someone else with a freightliner (they don't use many different keys and it's a popular truck). Or pry open the side box and go through the bunk. Or call freightliner with vin and get a key made. Or call a locksmith.
Breaking the glass would be pretty low down on my list of options.

Or if you're G-town, keep an extra pair of pants in the hood. haha whoever made that comment last time (was it Rob S?) cracked me up hahaha

Definitely having a spare key hidden somewhere is the thing, but if you don't, I don't know about prying open the side hatch, but the other options would take time. I wonder how much window glass costs? I broke a window on my car last year because I locked myself out, and I called the police who couldn't help because it was an electric lock, and several locksmiths, none of whom could show up for hours. I haven't replaced the window yet because although I got the glass for around $50 (which is less than a locksmith would have charged to come out at night), it turns out the window I chose to break is the hardest one to replace. Doh.
Who knows, maybe he called the boss and was told to break the window.
There are definitely other options. I lock myself out of my truck once a week lol. The first time it happened I called mainly and they told me a little trick to break into my truck. I can now break into any 2012 or newer international prostar lol.
I have three keys. Ask at the shop, they'll cut them no charge.
On the road, one is always in the ignition. One key is in my pants picker. On going out always lock the door with that key (never push that button!).
Finally, one truck key on my house + car key ring. When I go home, the two OTR keys get locked in the truck glove compartment, I lock up with my car-key one.
OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.
When all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail. Or if all you have is a king pin puller, everything looks like a window. If that had been a Swift truck, it would have made the 5 o'clock news. I'd rather use Gtowns pants.
My Kenworth needs the key to lock it from the outside. I have locksmith tools on my truck and have opened a few trucks for others who have locked themselves out.

I would be willing to bet the glass is still in the parking lot...
