I'm really sorry you guys. I'm trying to keep the size of the database down to a reasonable level and I accidentally deleted some of the wrong tracking information. So now it shows that every topic has new comments even though they don't.

The system will still work the same as it always did. When a topic has comments you haven't read they will show up in green. When they don't they'll show up in blue. But right now it's going to show all topics as having new comments. I feel bad about that.

On a good note, nothing was deleted. All of the topics and comments are still there. It was just the tracking system I was using to keep track of which topics have new comments.

Please feel free to ridicule me all you like. I totally deserve it. That was just dumb on my part.

I do have a backup system in place that could restore it but it's also hooked into the training program and I don't want to risk screwing up anyone's scores or anything so we'll just ride this out.

Again...sorry. That was just dumb.

Ah, so that's why I went to page 1 of Daniel B's road trip, not page 5!

I guess your server doesn't have a recycle bin you can rescue the data from?

No it doesn't. I have several backups I make of everything once every hour but I don't want to take the chance of trying to restore one table of the database. That database is used for this forum, the training program, and the Tracker App (beta) so the prudent thing to do in this case is just apologize for being an idiot and not risk making a small problem into a gigantic one. Restoring database tables isn't as easy as using the Recycle Bin unfortunately. It's a lot more complicated than that. So I'm not going to risk it.

Haha, I actually read every topic of all 113 pages. No topic was marked unread. Guess ill have to read them all again. Haha its good man this isn't an issue in my opinion no need to feel bad.

It could have been way worse for sure. I didn't delete anything critical but it's definitely a huge inconvenience to lose everyone's spot like that. I've been doing this entirely too long to make mistakes like that.

That's what I say when I run over a curb. rofl-3.gif

Brett as complicated as this site has to be your entitled to make an occasional bobo, espically when it's just an inconvience. Just like my last shift, forget it and prepare for the next....

Good grief brett. how you learned to do this so well is amazing to me considering all your years on the road. this is one of the most well formatted and complex sites i've seen. so you made a mistake,i didnt even notice. still working on your tests 4-6 hours a day. i've even started hanging out at the local truck stop. the drivers are always helpful when i tell them what i've learned.i hit them at the pumps so i don't slow them down.

When I managed I had a saying I used often when someone made a mistake. If that's the biggest mistake we make this year it will be a great year!

No biggie Brett, thanks for all that you do for us.
