Thanks Rainy! This is really helpful info.

I remember seeing that lawsuit against Prime for discrimination. Seems one can't cover their ass enough these days..

EXACTLY!! And guess what...the ones who then signed for female non smokers then wanted to change their minds and when Prime didn't want to agree cause they had the choice in writing. Suits threatened again. People suck.

"Women in Trucking" wrote an article bashing prime CRE and CRST years ago saying "read the true stories of these women" all the comments were about NEW drivers going through training then going straight to lease. And I was personally offended cause it made women look like victims. "Oh poor me. They are mean and I'm a woman." Screw that. If you want to be a trucker then toughen up.

I can tell by reading them most of them didn't stay long enough to actually understand the industry, and a few were just there to say "its the same at my company". Heck the first one says " I've been to several companies and this one is the worst. The lease ....". Uh WHY have you been to several companies in a short time?

So glad I live on a truck away from people lol. BTW.. I do play the "I'm a woman....can a big strong man such as yourself help me.." It works. Hey use the resources ya got.

Yeah lots of fake feminists out there, as I like to call them. Lots of women who want to jump on the "women are strong" bandwagon but start crying as soon as they hit a few difficulties. Really makes women look worse instead of better.

We need more Rainy's--you actually get out here and do the job like everyone else and own it like a champ.

So, if I choose female and non smoking right off the bat because asthma, and I think I'd like to learn from an experienced woman's perspective, I can't change my mind about gender if it takes too long to get a trainer or whatever? Huh, good to know.

OOS:

When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.

If I remember right, you get asked if you are willing to take either or prefer one gender over another. When I went out for TNT I said I preferred a woman but would take either gender. Non smoker was a non-negotiable though. I am planning on taking the trainer class in October after my Vegas mini vacation, so I hope to take on a student in November.

TNT:

Trainer-N-Trainee

Prime Inc has their own CDL training program and it's divided into two phases - PSD and TNT.

The PSD (Prime Student Driver) phase is where you'll get your permit and then go on the road for 10,000 miles with a trainer. When you come back you'll get your CDL license and enter the TNT phase.

The TNT phase is the second phase of training where you'll go on the road with an experienced driver for 30,000 miles of team driving. You'll receive 14ยข per mile ($700 per week guaranteed) during this phase. Once you're finished with TNT training you will be assigned a truck to run solo.

Prime just instituted a personality type of computer matching system for trainers and students. Should be interesting.

As far as the male/female thing...the men are professional and know prime has no tolerance. I had two smoking men and a vaping male to female transexual. Loved one, hated one and one was a little different lol. None were perverts. I did have an issue, but prime corrected it when I told them. It's a job.and students are there to learn not meet friends.

I'm going to say that MOST men OTR are very respectful and helpful. Not just at prime. Look at the great guys here.

OTR:

Over The Road

OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.

Man, woman, or in-between, broken or weird (I'll speak for myself)- don't care, and grouchy doesn't scare me. As long as they're safe and teach me. And no smoke, so I don't die. That would put a damper on things.

It will be amusing to see who the personality test matches me with. It's almost time to go. Now I've just gotta get caught up on one more car payment and utilities. Woohoo!

Hi!!! Welcome to TT and Prime ;)

You won't be forced into a lightweight..prime does get a discount at an online college whose name I can find for you or you can ask your recruiter. And honestly I think its an awesome company for women. We get bonus points we can use in the store, spa/salon and 24 hour cafe. They add up quickly and I've gotten quite a few facials, massages and hair colorings for free! We have more women than any other company.

I am thinking about Prime also. Do you load/unload or just drop and hook? Do they go cross country?

Drop And Hook:

Drop and hook means the driver will drop one trailer and hook to another one.

In order to speed up the pickup and delivery process a driver may be instructed to drop their empty trailer and hook to one that is already loaded, or drop their loaded trailer and hook to one that is already empty. That way the driver will not have to wait for a trailer to be loaded or unloaded.

HOS:

Hours Of Service

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.
