I'd say yes on the switch, but not an iPhone 8 or X. The 8 will start at $1,000 (to make a long story short the phone is $850, but you can't buy it without the $150 extra services that nobody uses), and the X will be $1,150 (same story here, but without the extras the price would be $1,000). Get a new iPhone 7 instead. The Samsung Galaxy is overrated in my opinion.
In terms of phone service for truckers, I'm finding tmobile not that good if you're OTR. It seems I'm hitting every place they don't have a tower. I'm roaming just about the entire time when in Wyoming and Nebraska for example. Now I know not many people live in these states but I've also lost signal in Pennsylvania and Florida too. I dread the day I have to go somewhere I don't have signal and the shipper/receiver has to call me. If you work in a city, tmobile is fine though.
Shipper:
The customer who is shipping the freight. This is where the driver will pick up a load and then deliver it to the receiver or consignee.
OTR:
Over The Road
OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.
I am enjoying using cricket. Since they are owned by AT&T you use AT&T towers. The best benefit is cell data and cell phone/text service are run on separate bandwidths. This allows you to talk and use data at the same time. Cricket also has a very reasonably priced unlimited plan.
DWI:
Driving While Intoxicated
One thing that stinks about iPhones is they don't have a micro SD card slot. Not a big deal if you have a laptop, but it's still really convenient to be able to take the SD card out of my dashcam and put it right into my phone and watch the videos.
