Well I'm about to turn the page and begin a new chapter in my life. I will be signing out on terminal leave from the Army on the 6th after ten years, and signing in to orientation at Melton on the 13th. I am definitely super excited to start a new career and hopefully I can catch on quickly.

Going to thank Brett for this site and the training materials, as well as everybody on the message board for being super informative and encouraging. I was slacking a bit on my HAZMAT endorsement training on here and got an email from Brett asking if I needed anything. That's pretty damn cool in my book and I definitely appreciated it. I figure I'll be pretty busy during orientation and training but ill try to keep y'all updated. Thanks again guys and gals.

HAZMAT:

Hazardous Materials

Explosive, flammable, poisonous or otherwise potentially dangerous cargo. Large amounts of especially hazardous cargo are required to be placarded under HAZMAT regulations

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

Should have gone with Maverick lol but seriously welcome to flatbed. You'll do well at melton. Best of luck

Thanks guys. It was between Maverick and Melton, I just want to drive a manual starting out and that was really the deciding factor. I was told by a friend that the only difference between all of these companies is the 800 number lol. Maybe not 100% true but seems fitting for here.

Thanks for your service. Good luck. In this industry it is 100% up to you to make it good or bad. All these companies stay in business for a reason. For example, Swift has a bad reputation on the internet, yet people here love them. You'll do great.

EPU:

Electric Auxiliary Power Units

Electric APUs have started gaining acceptance. These electric APUs use battery packs instead of the diesel engine on traditional APUs as a source of power. The APU's battery pack is charged when the truck is in motion. When the truck is idle, the stored energy in the battery pack is then used to power an air conditioner, heater, and other devices

Thanks and yes only 10. I had a multitude of reasons but the main one was that we did not want to PCS again.
