Yesterday I had a qualifier for the state robotics tournament (First Lego League), and we advanced. Had to be there by 7:40, got there in time, left 6:30 and I didn't get breakfast. Got home at 5:00 after going out for dinner. All that time spent in the pit with absolutely nothing to do paid off; Both of the teams in our school advanced to the championship round! Even though our other team was last place in the robot game and my team was 14th (out of 18), our projects wowed the judges. The competition is actually very project oriented; This year's theme was Hydro Dynamics, and we had to find a problem and an innovative solution in the human water cycle. Coach always told us that it was the project that matters, judges could care less about the robot. Well, she was right; Other team got LAST PLACE robot and yet still advanced.

Hey guys here is one I took on the beach of eastern nc. I’m still a local driver for now so I don’t get quite as many photo ops as most. Hope y’all enjoy it. And have a safe and merry Christmas!!

Several weeks back I had my wife and our dog Trixie riding with me. We were in the Northeast, and I had planned on stopping for the night at the Pilot in Milford, Connecticut. Anyone who has been there knows you need to get there early if you expect to get a parking spot. We had some issues that caused us to get there after the sun had already set, and I knew it was going to be a challenge. We circled the lot several times in vain, and then I noticed a truck leaving his spot. I managed to get myself in position before anyone else and began backing into the fairly tight spot. A young man ran over behind me and started spotting me with all kinds of gyrations and hand signals. Now, I probably differ from most of you, but I do not like to have a spotter when backing. I just ignored the signals and did my thing getting it in quite easily with one small pull up to adjust the angle of the trailer. As I pulled the air brake buttons I heard the young man's voice speaking to me through my open window, "Sir, one day I hope to be able to do that just like you!" I just grinned at him, but my wife spoke up, "Well, when you've been doing this as much as this guy, it starts to come easy." She's my greatest supporter in this career, and it means the world to me.

I thought this is pretty cool. I am buying this fireplace insert from a friend of mine. My plan is to clean it up (refinish and polish the brass) and insert it into my fireplace. I move from Maine to North Carolina and, don't get me wrong, I LOVE NC! but some of the homes have insulation the just doesn't cut it. I miss my old Oil Burner and now I have to deal with a heat pump. Well, this insert is gonna turn things around fer sure!

BMI:

Body mass index (BMI)

BMI is a formula that uses weight and height to estimate body fat. For most people, BMI provides a reasonable estimate of body fat. The BMI's biggest weakness is that it doesn't consider individual factors such as bone or muscle mass. BMI may:

  • Underestimate body fat for older adults or other people with low muscle mass
  • Overestimate body fat for people who are very muscular and physically fit

It's quite common, especially for men, to fall into the "overweight" category if you happen to be stronger than average. If you're pretty strong but in good shape then pay no attention.

OOS:

When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.
