I had a flat tire in the morning after doing a.post trip. I also had a drunk driver hit me and everything looked.fine....the cops.let me.go, but from driving hills fully loaded and the weight of the load, the hub completely cracked open by morning.

the mechanic said a hairline fracture would have done that.

when it comes to laws and requirements, it is always a reactive measure to.something that happened. the short answer is some lawsuit.somewhere or something extreme happened.

i read once we have ICC bumpers because of Princess Grace Kellys accident which killed.her. supposedly Ralph Nader took to promoting it.

(for those who never heard of these people, im.showing my age. google.them please lol)

Supposedly headache racks became law after a guy in my hometown crashed a log truck and was decapitated by logs coming through the cab. I can't say that for sure, but it was what I was told shortly after he died.

DAC:

Drive-A-Check Report

A truck drivers DAC report will contain detailed information about their job history of the last 10 years as a CDL driver (as required by the DOT).

It may also contain your criminal history, drug test results, DOT infractions and accident history. The program is strictly voluntary from a company standpoint, but most of the medium-to-large carriers will participate.

Most trucking companies use DAC reports as part of their hiring and background check process. It is extremely important that drivers verify that the information contained in it is correct, and have it fixed if it's not.

Coincidently... i got my first level 1 inspection today and passed.

first thing he asked was for the fire extinguisher...the one i replaced last week after it discharged while driving. yep, im lucky. and i double checked for the pin and to make sure it was charged before i took that sucker.

i took him about it and he was like "wow, and you didnt hit anyone? yep, youre safe, maybe i should go for another truck" lol no such luck. took an hour but he put a sticker on my truck and trailer for 90 days it allows bypassing weigh stations. he didnt say if it is state specific but who cares, i have a gold star from DOT and a cash bonus from prime

DOT:

Department Of Transportation

A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.

State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.

Grace Kelly, “Princess Grace”; died in Monacco, no Truck was involved with the accident.
