Sorry guys and gals, but you just can't hide the Trucking truth !

You fine folks are totally responsible and are the root cause of me signing up for Prime Inc CDL training (OTR Reefer). Scheduled week after next !

Thanks for all the great information and honest testimony without negativity !!!

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

OTR:

Over The Road

OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.

Reefer:

A refrigerated trailer.

Well to be honest there is some negativity, but it's about reality. Not rainbows and unicorns, this site is about honesty, good and bad. However BS whining, and complaining about things you can control but choose to blame others for aren't met with a warm reception. Just a healthy dose of "Put on your big boy/girl pants and get your ass to work."

These people are amazingly dedicated to helping people out there who are interested in putting in the work and being dedicated enough to succeed.

Welcome, read all you can.

OOS:

When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.

Best of luck to you, Anthony! I hope you use the time you have before starting orientation to study pre trip and permit questions. It will make things easier for you.

Welcome! Feel free to hang around and ask questions. We have a great group of moderators and experienced drivers willing to help out any way possible. We also have a ton of prime drivers so theyll be able to answer any company specific questions or concerns you have. Please keep us updated on how things are going for you. Are you scheduled to go to Springfield or a different terminal for training?

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

You do know that they shut down for that entire week, don’t you, Tony Aqua? Just kidding! Welcome aboard. You could do a lot worse than starting out with Prime, so excellent pick.good-luck.gif
