Hello, I will possibly be switching insurance companies next year and when I went to get my quote they mentioned that if I hire anybody to drive under my authority, they would need a minimum of (9) nine years of experience for them to cover. Yikes.

Have a nice day folks and be safe out there.

Wow! That's a lot of experience. I'm sure there are other insurance companies that are less strict but more expensive.

Holy cow, that seems way more extensive than the companies here in Ga. Most all require 2 years and then look at the mvr.

MVR:

Motor Vehicle Record

An MVR is a report of your driving history, as reported from your state Department of Motor Vehicles. Information on this report may include Drivers License information, point history, violations, convictions, and license status on your driving record.

Are you sure that wasn't a misprint; that they didn't mean 9 'MONTHS?' embarrassed.gif

I dont know which insurance company you went to, but in my 10 years in the trucking insurance field it is my first time to hear such. 90% of the companies require 2 years of experience which is why i advise people to get at least that full year of experience before venturing out. Some companies will do 0 year of experience with a hefty surcharge

That's getting insurance through ooida.

The owner has to have 4 years minimum, anyone he or she hires has to have a minimum 9 years.

Straight from the agents mouth.

Time to shop around.

Insurance was the main reason I parked my truck and went back to being a company driver.

Just to be nosey, What kind of limits are you looking at, and if I may ask, how much are they asking for in premiums?

That is just crazy. They require more than double the experience for employee’s than the owner???

Insurance is the main reason I leased onto my carrier. I buy my insurance through them.

Industry standard is 1 million liability, 100k cargo. (Minimum is 750k cargo, but some brokers require the 100k) no physical damage on truck or trailer. I own both. My premium is 11k a year with 1500 downpayment.
