Good, I saw a TV commercial for a lawyer that said " even if you where at fault you maybe entitled to a check." Which probably means they will sue and hope for a settlement cost someone money even if they did nothing wrong.
The massive insurance coverage CMV's are required to carry, puts a huge bullseye on every CMV.
To the point where people TRY TO GET IN ACCIDENTS with commercial vehicles, because there's always going to be a decent payout.
While have billboards down here, with "ambulance chasers" advertising specifically at people involved in accidents with CMV's.
It's bad enough in regular accidents, people call a LAWYER before they call a DOCTOR. An "acquaintance of mine", recently asked for a "good chiropractor" because a fuel truck had backed into her in a gas station (probably didn't do a whole lot of damage at a slow roll), and HER LAWYER wanted her to see a chiro and a neuro doc.
I offered mine up - but told her he doesn't do PI Case Fee Assignments - CASH ONLY (he doesn't take ANY INSURANCE, though he will help file a claim to get reimbursed). She declined - and I was like: "do you want someone who can HEAL YOU, or someone that will milk your PI and write a favorable disability report?".
My guy saved me from spinal surgery - I still see him every 3 weeks for "maintenance" (going on 3 years now) - best $75 a visit I can spend.
If there's a way to cash a check without working for it - unscrupulous scumbags will figure out a way to do it. Taking the target OFF THE TRUCKERS BACKS - will go a long way to keeping costs down, as the main expense next to fuel, is INSURANCE.

A CMV is a vehicle that is used as part of a business, is involved in interstate commerce, and may fit any of these descriptions:
It is the rule of Deep Pockets. Yes, you are the guest of honor in such a lawsuit, but the lawyers are really after the Big Truck Company you drive for. That's the scam happening in Louisiana.
You can see "Bug Truck Accident?" billboards as you pass through every large town. Show of hands: Who has seen a "4-Wheeler Foul up?" sign in a truck stop or on a billboard?
The irony is that the 'victims' never make out as much as they thought they would, often the courts collect fees, plus the attorneys and if there are any medical Bill's those all get paid before final settlement is issued out to them.

That's it there! The only ones that benefit are the souless, slithering attorneys.
Was just talkin bout this to my friends.....I saw so many billboards down south. 1 after another all touting "" been in an accident with a big rig??"" Call us for the biggest $$$ for your injuries........1 law firm *cough* had 3 or 4 in a row....with " $1.5 million"........$2.3 million.........etc claiming they got clients these huge sums.....Here in Calif....now the commercials are aimed at Lyft and Uber on tv all the time

Trucking Truth News has reported recently on several high-dollar truck accident lawsuit settlements, with several of the high-profile lawsuits originating in the New Orleans area; which has been hard hit by what, for all intents and purposes, appear to be a rash of fraudulent lawsuits. That pattern of seeming insurance fraud has come to the attention of the United States District Attorney's Office investigators, and federal judges presiding over several Louisiana truck accident cases have put those cases on hold pending investigations into the "victims'" alleged fraudulent practices.
