Nowhere to go! I got my CDL on March 12th. I got the hard copy in the mail yesterday. But... no one who offered me a job is doing orientation or training until Covid is handled. Aaaarrgghh!
I could go and drive a grain truck part-time until I can get on with a full-time position. Good idea or bad idea? I'd love to get behind the wheel and get some miles in but I'd hate to leave for a full-time position too soon.
Guess I'll be retired for a little while longer...
Contact my recruiter, Allison Wiers. I believe we are still bringing in new drivers for training.
Tell her Marc Lee Winnig referred you.

That's a tough one. You don't want to make it look like you're a job hopper by leaving relatively quick. At the same time who knows how long the Corona virus panic will last. If you wait too long with no experience you may be told your CDL is stale. Did you end up deciding what company you were going to?

Dean,
I feel your pain. Called and left message for my Prime recruiter just to get an update as to when orientation/training will resume.
Strange times.

My preference would be Dot 1X, who contract hauls transfer loads for Dot Foods. Not sure how or if that is going to work out. I was offered the position but Dot Foods isn't planning any training or orientation in the near future. I talked to Werner about some LTL work for Family Dollar. I was also offered a position at Thompson, Inc. of Quincy who hauls utility truck bodies for Knappheide.

Refers to carriers that make a lot of smaller pickups and deliveries for multiple customers as opposed to hauling one big load of freight for one customer. This type of hauling is normally done by companies with terminals scattered throughout the country where freight is sorted before being moved on to its destination.
LTL carriers include:
A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.
State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.
