I think it's an excellent idea. Not only for truckers but also the general public that's travelling. It's funny how most businesses and people dont want the government involved until it benefits them. The only restaurants that would be affected are those in truck stops. With how expensive many are it would hopefully force prices to go down. Its not like a driver getting their food at the rest stop food truck is going to put small businesses out of business. Food trucks already need to be licensed and follow food safety guidelines so this shouldn't result in anyone getting sick more frequently than if you go down to your local Applebees. Maybe the state could charge the food trucks a small fee to conduct business there on a rotating schedule to make it fair and use the fee for upkeep of the rest stop. It would allow the state to use the current funds to pay for other projects
Are these businesses worried about competition? I’d love to here the opinions of businesses wiped out by the truck stops.
Well that's too bad about the food trucks. I'm at the Petro at Kingdom City, MO and there is zero food service here. No carryout, no nothing. UK keep my truck stocked and can cook in it, but idk what some of these drivers can do.
When I read food trucks, I thought it meant semis carrying food.
