The past couple of students i had were doozies. One was so unsafe I refused to pick her up after home time. Talking on the phone while driving and taking pictures while driving in a construction zone were big problems.

I now have a wonderful student!!!! Many trainers state that one thing students fail to do is read signs. I stress this in training. Read the signs. Every sign.

Last night I awoke to my trainee whispering. I was irate thinking she was on the phone trying to be sneaky. I soon realized she was not only reading every sign... But singing it.

That IS truly awesome, Rainy~! I learned MANY an elementary school lesson by singing it; still repeat them to myself, to this day! Like the Declaration of Independence; learned that on a daytime TV kids show, you are too old for, haha!

Now I've got that song stuck in my head though, which 'isn't' awesome. Hear me now: 'Trucks entering both far and wide, keep Manhattan and gimme this countryside~!'

Ba Da Ba Da Da .. boop boop ~!

Good lord i aint back in a truck but i will be when my bronchitis is over and i can pass a dot physical with the exhale in the machine part without sounding like my ol buddies grandma with emphysema. Just had to say and comment on rob d’s post. Ive been everywhere When i was driving. Northeast georgia and the blueridge mountains aka my home town was only ever surpassed by Montana for me. Northeast georgia for me being a 5 minute drive to South Carolina and a 15 minute drive into North Carolina. You hit my mountains and have home-time let me know and ill show you hunting/fishing/hiking/experiences I've yet to find outside of Montana/Washington state without feeling the regret for country so amazing that doesn’t compare to the mountains so few travel

DOT:

Department Of Transportation

A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.

State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.

Dm:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

Actually as a whole, students from this forum do better than others in training cause they know better what to expect.

Good luck
