Anyone that thinks fsc that only pays on contract freight makes up the difference is misinformed. It covers approx. half of the cost of fuel. For trucks getting better mpg it isn’t as bad, but still does not make a person whole.

Thanks PJ for the input. The more and more i'm in this industry i've come to realize the amount of things that that companies come up with that's meant to distract you from understanding how much you actually get paid. I don't do percentage of the load, i don't do percentage of the value of the load, i don't have a dispatch that i give any percentage to, i don't do fuel surcharge, i don't do paid per diem , i don't factor.

Can i make more money doing some of those things, i would say most definitely yes. But i don't have the time or effort to look at a number and start deducting this and that to come up with how much i'm going to make.

I bid on loads on the spot. The amount i bid is the actual amount that gets deposited into my bank account at the end of the trip. Period. When fuel goes up, so does my bids. Believe me, i don't pay anything for fuel and when it goes up, so does everyone's bid and the rate it takes to move that load goes up. Call it what you want but the shipper has to pay more to move that load.

Shipper:

The customer who is shipping the freight. This is where the driver will pick up a load and then deliver it to the receiver or consignee.

Per Diem:

Getting paid per diem means getting a portion of your salary paid to you without taxes taken out. It's technically classified as a meal and expense reimbursement.

Truck drivers and others who travel for a living get large tax deductions for meal expenses. The Government set up per diem pay as a way to reimburse some of the taxes you pay with each paycheck instead of making you wait until tax filing season.

Getting per diem pay means a driver will get a larger paycheck each week but a smaller tax return at tax time.

We have a ton of information on our wiki page on per diem pay

HOS:

Hours Of Service

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.

Sid your right there are many many variables in this industry. One would think it wouldn’t be that complicated because it is all the same, pickup load, move it from point A to point B, deliver and get paid. Right!. Nope.

This is why it is so important that new drivers go company in the beginning and learn the industry. After getting a solid education then they can decide what is best for their individual situation. That is my number one pet peeve with these carriers that push lease on new drivers so hard. In my opinion they are preying on the uneducated.

I’m certainly no expert at it, but I did find what works for me and my situation. I love what I do, and make what I set in my mind at what I need to make it worth it to me. I have my set of minimum’s but more is always good, lol. That is golden to me.

Knowledge is power!!

My point is the individual states have their own authority in certain matters. 10th Amendment.

double-quotes-end.png

double-quotes-end.png

Which is what our current president stated on numerous occasions when asked why he didn't "step in and impose" things on the states. His reply (most frequently) - "there's this thing called the constitution". As much of a dictatorial prick as he was accused of being - he did a very good job at respecting the individual rights of the states. Likewise with threats of federal troops for quelling disturbances - or the threat "if you don't take care of the rioting, we'll have to come in and do so". And in moves that were made (sending DHS in to guard the courthouse in Portland - where the state and local governments totally abdicated their responsibility to protect their people AND their cities) - he was well within his authority to do so - all while continuing to respect states rights.

I'm very well aware of the 10th amendment.

In the case of oil production (as was demonstrated in coal production - which financially devastated the regions where it was shut down by ObaBiden) - the leftists have very little problem with overstepping their authority - booth at a state and national level.

Conversely - when THE LEFT HAS AN AGENDA - THEY HAVE VERY LITTLE PROBLEM OVERSTEPPING THEIR LAWFUL LIMITATIONS.

Now - when we talk about the absolute LOONS he must surround himself with (we're speaking of Biden) - in order to ensure his "universal legitimacy" to a party that is rapidly moving so far left that Pelosi looks like a centrist (and Occasional Cortex, would have us all shipped off to gulag YESTERDAY) - don't think for a moment they won't overstep, and then have it bogged down in litigation with friendly judges.

One of Trumps GREATEST LITTLE KNOWN ACCOMPLISHMENTS were the number of federal judges he seated, at the district, court of appeals - and of course SCOTUS. They may be OUR ONLY HOPE in the future (though at this point - I hold out very little).

If they do HALF the things they want to do, we're in deep feces - if they manage to steal or tie the senate - they will RUN LEGISLATION THROUGH FASTER THAN CRAP THROUGH A GOOSE, and even if we flip both houses in the mid-term, we're still in trouble.

Right now - Bidens C-19 czar wants to do a 6 week NATIONAL SHUTDOWN (and he's talking. Dr. Osterholm said: “We could pay for a package right now to cover all of the wages, lost wages for individual workers, for losses to small companies, to medium-sized companies or city, state, county governments. We could do all of that,” “To be effective, the lockdown has to be as comprehensive and strict as possible.”

THESE PEOPLE ARE INSANE. I cannot believe HALF THE COUNTRY DOESN'T GET IT...

Rick

The 10th Amendment prevents the Biden administration from banning fracing nationwide. Simple as that.

Dm:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

OOS:

When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.

Ever worked in the mining, gas, or oil industry, Daniel?

Quite a bit. It is what I did before becoming a driver. I know Pennsylvania fracs and New York doesn't. It's a state descision.

Got a question, guys (and gal(s?)) . . .

Frackers, or non . . . (I'm in Ohio . . . so, yeah.....)

Anyone here, or that you know, playing in the next 'Game of Throngs?'

"The initial strike – supported by groups such as StopTheTires2020, Trucker Strike 2020, and truck drivers across other various sectors of the internet – was planned for November 11th as a way to protest the potential fracking ban, the lack of consideration for truckers in coronavirus restrictions, and even the results of the 2020 election, which Trump has not conceded. While little seemed to happen on November 11th, the proposed trucker strike has the potential to get more serious by the end of the month, when four day protest activity is expected to begin."

Apparently, the 11/11 one was a bust. Black Smoke Matters peeps 'tried really hard!' rofl-3.gif

Keep the peace, and be safe y'all ~!!

Great. Then you should know the Federal Government can strangle any industry with red tape, over-reach, and their regulations, "10th Amendment" or not.

Fracing boomed under the Obama administration. Fracing continued to do well under the Trump administration.
