When are you going to post a pic of you and your truck from "back in the day"

Oh man....when I changed the site template over a short while back I forgot to put in the link to the "About Brett" page. Geez!

Here's About Me including some pics.

Here's me in 1993 with my 80's metal hair and my first ever solo truck. I was 21 years old running with Gainey Tranportation. I was out of their Atlanta, GA terminal. The others in the picture are my sister, my niece, and my nephew.

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

Old School's Comment

Okay, I wasn't going to do this, but after seeing Brett expose himself with that "Rock Star" hair I decided to go ahead. I was given the name "Old School" by a group of seven high risk inmates at a county Jail in Texas where I volunteered to teach them to read and write. These were grown men who lacked those skills. I ended up teaching them much more than just reading and writing, because what they really were in need of was character. All of these fellows ended up in Prison, and rightly so, but I still hear from one of them occasionally. He is out of prison now and always tells me with each communication that "I thank God every day that I met you when I was locked up."

The name fits me in multiple ways and I just stuck with it for the forum here. I live a very old fashioned life style. I enjoy raising my own food whether that be vegetables or meat. I believe in honest hard working values and integrity. I like to gather my own eggs from my own chickens. I'm fascinated with "old stuff"... And, well, everybody just knows that...

I do too! Problem is there's a family of opossums that always burrow in and beat me to em! rofl-3.gif

I really hate vermin...and opossums are at the top of the list...I trap em..and kill em...they do not serve a purpose on this earth...and they are not native to the US...they came here on the ships....nasty critters...

Mines just my name, The signup form had blanks for the name, but I didn't see one for a handle.

Most other forums I'm Kiwi303.

Kiwi because I am a Kiwi... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kiwi_%28people%29 and 303 because my Go-To gun for most hunting is a 1940 Ishapore Armoury (India) made SMLE .303

Rhys,

If you click on Menu > My Profile > Update Your Profile. You will see a section that says "Public Name". You can enter Kiwi303 here if you would like to change your name to your handle. Forum members would then see your handle instead of name.

So.... Guess Who!

I was tempted to adopt a name from an article here on TT that was talking about "stereotypes" and the author gave three example names, "Bubba, Joe Bob, and Cooter" so I thought it might be funny to adopt all three and become Bubba JoeBob Cooter." Then I realized maybe it was just me who thought that was funny. In any case, the only nickname I enjoy was given to me by my (at the time) very young grandson who combined two names he had just mastered while learning to speak: "Jojo" his big orange cat and "Papa" obviously his pops. So one day he called me "Jopa" and it has stuck so that all four of my grandkids refer to me as "Jopa" and so do their parents. This was long before I ever heard Joe Paterno being referred to as Jopa so I claim it as my own. Love to hear "Jopa" from my grandkids 'cause it is just between us. My grandson will be 14 in May so the name has some miles on it.

Well, I don't have one yet, because I am super new to all this, but my brain has been thinking, because I like all the cool names people have too. I was thinking (and YES, I'll take comments :) ... Since my go-by nickname is Dorie, and every time I introduce myself I either get the 'oh, like the fish!' or the 'Dorian Gray' movie.. or the 'Hunky Dory', so I was kind of thinking the 'Hunky Dorie' might be a good one. :D I indeed am usually very mellow & smiley, in a 'hey, all's good' kind of space.. so.. what do ya think? BTW.. I somehow screwed up my avatar pic, trying to upload one- didn't know how to get the truck one back on there LOL. I'll be one of those that totally laughs at myself too when i start school and do the 'back it up' all in a zig zag.. rofl-1.gif

So, you're saying my grandson called me a butt? At least he left off the "hole" part . . . good thing I don't live in Russia (or West Sac), eh??
