Oh, I feel your pain relating to either slipseating or sharing a truck. Other drivers who use the tractor I usually have will bring it back to the yard with 1/2 a tank, not taking out their garbage, not getting lights or wipers fixed. Not replacing spare oil and other fluids stored in the cab, and so one. I leave nothing of mine in the cab, or it is a guarantee anything I do will be gone.
2029? Wooster drivers are driving tractors in the 1260's and '70's. Lol
The key is to find an older truck no one wants to drive and make it known its yours. Park in same spot. Cone it off. It takes time but eventually you'll own a truck that isn't assigned to you but everyone knows its yours. This is what I did and I have been driving the same truck for 9 months without sharing it ever at OD.
Exactly what my hubby did ... stepped back from #2029 (Mack Pinnacle AMT) to #1213 (Int'l 10sp) ... NOBODY wants the ole' manual, haha!

When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.
I hate using someone's assigned tractor. They're usually really cluttered and have some defects because the driver doesn't want to put it out of service. I always try to grab a shop spare because they're maintained and empty.
At FedEx freight, Road drivers bid on tractors. Most of them aren't shared, but some of the shorter runs are. Av tractor can be shared by a PM and an AM guy. P/D tractors are assigned to routes. Those aren't shared because everybody goes out at the same time and they're smaller and meant to be fuel conscious so they don't have the same power as a road tractor.

Most of our trucks are assigned to 1 linehaul driver and 1 P&D driver they usually have the schedule worked out so there isn't a conflict there.
Local drivers that stay around their area, usually within 100 mile radius of a terminal, picking up and delivering loads.
LTL (Less Than Truckload) carriers for instance will have Linehaul drivers and P&D drivers. The P&D drivers will deliver loads locally from the terminal and pick up loads returning to the terminal. Linehaul drivers will then run truckloads from terminal to terminal.
Linehaul drivers will normally run loads from terminal to terminal for LTL (Less than Truckload) companies.

Your opinion always counts. I follow your's and Don's opinions on FAB and everything else. Being a retired "old timer" I drove Macks almost exclusively and those like #2029 would be a blessing to me. If I was still driving and didn't mind the weather up there as opposed to here in Florida I would look into FAB for sure. You and your hubby and family have the Merriest Christmas ever.
Awh, Navy . . . that's so sweet; thank you so much! I know, I kind of LOVED that Mack in the picture, dangit. Oh well. At least I can polish my shifting skills in our yard, now....LoL~!
