First time using a Garmen, had more problems with it in 3 weeks then I ever had with a qualcomm.

Qualcomm:

Omnitracs (a.k.a. Qualcomm) is a satellite-based messaging system with built-in GPS capabilities built by Qualcomm. It has a small computer screen and keyboard and is tied into the truck’s computer. It allows trucking companies to track where the driver is at, monitor the truck, and send and receive messages with the driver – similar to email.

I have the DEZL 500. Its a pita sometimes but works well enough. I also use google maps on my phone, and RandMcNalley because its on the zonar, but its pretty much useless. Whats giving you grief on the garmin?

Dm:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

I wok for a small little company, I know this page is biased towards that but I like it, I feel alot more comfortable then at a mega carrier. They are extremely easy going, getting really good miles, have a nice truck, and get to be home every 2-3 weeks. I can't complain.

Have the same one. It's only sent me down a road it shouldn't have once. Luckily it wasn't too hard to get out of there. Couldn't tell it wasn't a truck road on Google maps either.

Only issues I've had with it are lately when there's lane closures for construction it likes to tell me the interstates completely closed. I just ignore it until it figures out it's open.
