Anybody have this? Super creepy feeling and something a driver does not want. Impossible to sleep with this condition. If you have experienced this, what have you done to cope with it?

See your doctor ASAP just to be sure that you do not a blood clot or something else that could really affect your health. Sometimes it's not serious but others could be your demise. Good luck.

SAP:

Substance Abuse Professional

The Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) is a person who evaluates employees who have violated a DOT drug and alcohol program regulation and makes recommendations concerning education, treatment, follow-up testing, and aftercare.

Bruce, I had it SUPER BAD with my last kiddo, in utero.

Chiropractor helped...as did hubby's massage of legs. DC suggested St. John's Wort, and keeping my legs elevated while lying down, or lounging.

BOTH HELPED. :):):)

Hope you get this resolved, hun!

Thanks, Anne. You always have encouraging words and that's just one reason I enjoy your posts.

My doctor told me to 1) Get more leg exercise 2) Increase my water intake 3) Take an over the counter PM pain reliever at least 2 hours before bedtime. 4) Try not to eat anything 4 hours before bedtime. 5) Find somewhere to swim on a regular basis, especially an indoor facility during cold weather ( Hard to do for an OTR driver).

Walking for an extended period is difficult for me because of arthritis in the knees. But I dusted off my bicycle and have started riding at least 1/2 hour a day. Yesterday I did one hour. The RLS was gone last night, so I think that regular exercise might do the trick. If so, I'm going to strap my bike on the cab and keep up the daily riding during my breaks.

OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.

Geez, the advice under “Self care” is VERY poorly written, with regard to their use of punctuation. The way it reads, in addition to discontinuing caffeine, one should also discontinue physical exercise, discontinue quitting smoking, and discontinue relaxation techniques. In summary, to combat RLS, quit the caffeine, live as sedentary a life as possible, if you smoke keep on burning ‘em, and above all maintain as much stress in your life as possible.

Bruce, tomfoolery aside, try to focus on the exercise; it cures 1001 ills. There’s plenty of exercises you can do as an OTR driver that don’t require a gym membership. An obvious one is walking briskly; there’s a difference between a brisk walk and lollygagging around the parking lot. I’ve seen both. There’s also equipment you can buy that will fit in the cab of your truck without taking up too much space. The keys are commitment, and consistency. Good luck, I hope you are able to overcome this.
