Is this the same Central Transport that's been in the LTL game for a long while????

Used to be CTL maybe?

Central 'Freight Lines' same as Central Transport we knew..closing?

I rarely read 'weekend' trucking news . . . but this just showed up as a 'push' today.

Hmmm...

Anymore info is greatly appreciated, and if I'm wrong, PLEASE correct me!

Thanks,

~ Anne ~

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

LTL:

Less Than Truckload

Refers to carriers that make a lot of smaller pickups and deliveries for multiple customers as opposed to hauling one big load of freight for one customer. This type of hauling is normally done by companies with terminals scattered throughout the country where freight is sorted before being moved on to its destination.

LTL carriers include:

  • FedEx Freight
  • Con-way
  • YRC Freight
  • UPS
  • Old Dominion
  • Estes
  • Yellow-Roadway
  • ABF Freight
  • R+L Carrier

Nope 2 different companies the one that is closing focuses on Texas and surrounding states, they do not go very far north.

Central Transport doesn't go that far south and is mostly in the midwest.

To be honest it is kind of a surprise they couldn't pay their bills, all LTL companies where over capacity areas earlier this year. Guess Swift didn't think they where a worth while investment.

I wouldn't be surprised if we get some of their equipment if it is any good. We have been hurting and having a hard time getting new trucks.

Thanks to you, also... I'm sorry! Naievete' happens.

Yeah, why didn't Swift/Knight 'scoop' on that???? So many questions. Again, sorry.

I seriously hope you DO get some of their 'goodies.' What about their lanes?!?!?

It's not that hard to run a successful business into the ground. Central Freight Lines had several problems, but arguably the biggest one was not being able to attract drivers. Cutting driver pay, cutting driver pay at the same time THEY BOUGHT ANOTHER CARRIER, no direct deposit and firing drivers for merely inquiring about driving jobs elsewhere are some of the reasons for their 2.2 star rating on Glassdoor. https://www.truckingtruth.com/truckers-forum/Topic-31212/Page-1/hey-ltl-guys-clarification-please

Yeah these guys were who you were getting mixed up with. I forgot they sometimes pull a white Vitran trailer but most of the time it’s a yellow on yellow color scheme.
