My dad actually had a few truckers eat at his Sabrett's cart, in Florida! (That's 'us!')

Ate of many a roach coach in my days at WM etc the food is fresh cooked to order, I never got sick from it, but then again, I have an iron gut. There's a Love's in Idaho, off the 80, I forget the exit, 1st time me and my 1st co-driver, from El Salvador, went there. Right across the street on the corner, was this school bus, converted into a mexican foodie spot.

I was shocked at first, hispanic's were in Idaho of all places lol... BUT Their food was the BOMB diggity !Everytime we went thru there, we fueled at Love's and ate in the bus, Husband & wife owned, very nice people and their employees....Dang I miss not getting by there now, just for the food lol yummm yummm

During my OTR days, I began posting FB imagery of my road food hacks. Microwave, zip lock bags, condiments from the truck stop, canned veggies (NOT the $2.39 can of truck stop green beans!), walmart rotisserie bird, canned chicken or fish, carrots celery and tomato cups from the bigs - all of these were components. The truck stop companies know that they can get exorbitant prices for fresh or nearly fresh food - so they do. They all talk "Driver Health and Nutrition" but push the 2 for $3 Roller Grill Delites and high sugar candy and crap weekly deals.

Andrey - why does it happen? Probably greed.

I65 in Whiteland, IN has a truckstop with an Indian food truck nextdoor. Good food. Petro Gary, IN has a trailer next door that is a carry out place - Croatian food. Good stuff. Someone should start a thread "Food Alternatives adjacent to Corporate Run Truck Stops". My experience is regional , and these are the only two that I am certain of, and they were all pre-'rona.

Regional:

Regional Route

Usually refers to a driver hauling freight within one particular region of the country. You might be in the "Southeast Regional Division" or "Midwest Regional". Regional route drivers often get home on the weekends which is one of the main appeals for this type of route.

OTR:

Over The Road

OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.

Love's in Idaho is on I-84, exit 211 which is the Burley exit. I live 55 miles from there to the West 😉

As for Hispanics in Idaho, we are third in the nation for dairy cows numbers and the Mexicans work on the dairies. Many are legals but quite a few are illegal. That's why our insurance rates for vehicles is high... many people that don't know how to drive.

Yes, the school bus is still there serving food.

This is strange! Seems more like laziness to me. Every food truck can bring a truck stop $1000+ in rent every month with zero investment plus an increased amount of customers. Why are they not interested?

Stop at the Pinecone off I-94 in Johnson Creek WI. You will not be disappointed.
