So my truck is repaired and I’m on the plane back to Buffalo after dropping off the second abandoned truck.

First time in a Volvo and first time on paper logs and no Qualcomm.

...AND .... FIRST TIME with no COFFEE ?!?!? They sure threw a LOT at ya, haha! Testing your sense & sensibility?!?

Just kidding, man. Geesh... fly safe, and drive safer! What a tale to tell, for futures, I'd bet!

Qualcomm:

Omnitracs (a.k.a. Qualcomm) is a satellite-based messaging system with built-in GPS capabilities built by Qualcomm. It has a small computer screen and keyboard and is tied into the truck’s computer. It allows trucking companies to track where the driver is at, monitor the truck, and send and receive messages with the driver – similar to email.

And flight has been delayed 4 times. As was last weeks. The whole ordeal has been FUBARed through no fault of mine or Wolding. Just Murphy’s Law.

Fuel Tank Noise. Damaged fuel pump might make a loud, whining sound that you'll hear from your gas tank. it's annoying.

Back on the road again. NOX sensor. Why does it take 2 days to fix this? I think the FRIGHLINER repair shops milk the repairs for everything they can get, Do not get me started on this .

Nox sensors have been hard to get the past 6 months or so. 2 days was a pretty quick turn around for a dealer.

My truck was repaired while I ran the first truck out to WI. Took an Uber from the airport to my truck, took it home and parked it. Uber to the second truck, took it to WI, then flew home last night.

Delay after delay both flights. Got home 3:30 this morning, after 23 hours awake.

Back out on the road tomorrow.

Ok, thanks. I feel better knowing that. But I’m hoping for no more breakdowns.

A bit of an update. One of our dispatchers noted a spike in fuel pump replacements. We had 5 in a 2 week span. The common denominator was refueling at the Waterloo NY Petro just before. They suspect their bio diesel blend. We are no longer allowed to fuel there, and it was one of our “free” stops. We could fuel there without a fuel solution any time. Good for me though, as now I fuel at the Loves across the street.

As we transition to Bison next month, we manage our own fuel. We get a list of fuel stops on our route, sorted by cheapest first. But we can fuel anywhere. Another win. Though I pretty much did anyway. My route usually took me past one of our free stops, and if not, I went to wherever made sense. Those stops were rare, so I never got a call from the fuel department.

Dispatcher:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

HOS:

Hours Of Service

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.
