Davy, it sounds like you are doing a great job of coping. Self therapy is sometimes the best therapy.
I would second your thoughts about TT being a sort of family. A family with an incredible cast of valuable members and interesting characters. I’ve found that to be happy in life, one needs a higher purpose than just oneself. And we can have more than one higher purpose. You and I and numerous others, for instance, post candidly about our successes and failures as relatively new drivers. I guess we hope that we are contributing to the education of other members in some way. When we try to help others, we are also helping ourselves, even if we don’t fully realize it.
Keep moving forward, man. I enjoy hearing about your career progress. Oh, and when you aren’t moving forward, be careful backing up. GOAL. Get Out and Laugh.
Anne, the email brightened my day. Some days are good, some not so good.
G town, thought about what you said in a post about Cali. Dropped my speed down a bit there. Always watching my wagon.
OS, I think about how you function within Knight and keep trying to emulate it. Seems to be working.
PianoMan, feel a kindred spirit to you in many ways, not ready to jump to skateboarding yet, but one of these days.
Packrat, you're Like the ass kicking uncle everyone needs.
Bret, I wouldn't be driving if not for you putting this all together.
Guess what I'm getting at is that there's so much more to this lifestyle than the driving to consider. Coming here is like coming home to family. I can honestly say that following the advice of the folks here that have been around a while makes for a successful journey.
Anyways, just a nod of gratitude to everyone here. One foot in front of the other, onward and upward.
Amen!

BK, please don't doubt that ALL the stories read on here by people starting out are helpful in so many ways. For one, it helps paint more realistically what we might or will encounter when we finally make it out there. It shows that not every day will be perfect or go smoothly, but it's worth it because how much you all love your chosen profession clearly shines through. For me, this site shows me that I'm making the right move for me by entering this industry, leaving a stable career but one I've grown to hate. All stories/discussions, good bad short or long, are so helpful and I thank you and every other contributor here. (Personally, I like your sense of humor too!) Don't stop!

Davy;
That really touched me, as well. I'm going through some really tough stuff, with the hubby's company 'bailing/selling' randomly. You brought a smile to my face that was much needed, when I first read that yesterday! You bring SMILES, WIT AND WISDOM all in here, man!
I would've posted a reply sooner, but it was a smile that also had a choke to it. The email? ... that's just 'me being me' in this oftentimes cruel world. The lil' specials you wrote.. means a ton, to me..for them, etcetera. I agree w/the above replies, and then some; keep on keeping on; we're all here for you.
At least our group keeps some of the camaraderie in trucking, like it used to (should!) be ~!
Keep the faith,
~ Anne ~
