I’ve been using the app for years. But, when their system is down…well, ya know. Like all things tech, I love the convenience EXCEPT when it isn’t working.
Love’s app is also convenient and, since downloading the CAT Scale app, I can’t remember the last time I went inside for a scale ticket.
A network of over 1,500 certified truck scales across the U.S. and Canada found primarily at truck stops. CAT scales are by far the most trustworthy scales out there.
In fact, CAT Scale offers an unconditional Guarantee:
“If you get an overweight fine from the state after our scale showed your legal, we will immediately check our scale. If our scale is wrong, we will reimburse you for the fine. If our scale is correct, a representative of CAT Scale Company will appear in court with the driver as a witness”
According to a Pilot employee I spoke to, Pilot is phasing out the card readers at the pumps. Lately, they have taped up signs on the card readers to that effect, so without to phone app a driver has to go into the store and have them turn on the pump. It’s a hassle to do that, especially if you forgot to note the pump number.
So I got the app. The clerk helped me download it and get it set up. I’ve used it twice now and it is pretty slick. The driver does most of the process from inside the truck until the 6 digit code appears on the phone. Then the driver can get out and enter the code on the pump. Saves a little bit of time and effort.
Anybody else using the app to fuel? I’m probably the last driver to get the app. I’m always way behind on IT stuff.
I always use the app to fuel (unless there is a technical issue preventing it). There are lots of bonus perks in the app, so it's worthwhile usage.
Truck drivers who regularly pick up from or deliver to the shipping ports will often be required to carry a TWIC card.
Your TWIC is a tamper-resistant biometric card which acts as both your identification in secure areas, as well as an indicator of you having passed the necessary security clearance. TWIC cards are valid for five years. The issuance of TWIC cards is overseen by the Transportation Security Administration and the Department of Homeland Security.
I have both the Flying J/Pilot and Love's app. My last company used Flying J and this company uses Love's. Both are nice to use when it's below 0° and the wind is howling (like the last several days). I also use the CAT Scale and TransFlo apps. Just makes life easier.

PFJ, Love's and TA/Petro. I use them all.
I used the app when I was with Schneider. When the system works it's much easier than having to put all those numbers in on keypads in the freezing weather. I also used the CatScale app. I added my driver info and company credit card to the app.
I earned a lot of free showers and food discounts. I also added my veteran info and enjoyed the 10% discount.
I use the Love's. Pilot won't finish installing on my phone for some reason. I've done all I can think to do. Maybe I'll ask an employee next time.
